Sony announces PS Plus free games for October, and many subscribers are already calling it the worst month in a long time.
Sony has confirmed the October lineup for PlayStation Plus, and outrage is erupting on Reddit. The announcement thread fills with over 700 comments within a few hours, and the vast majority say the same thing: worst month in years.
PS Plus: These are the 3 free games in October
These three games make up the October lineup:
F1 25 (PS5): The official Formula 1 game of the 2025 season, with career mode, dedicated team mode and online multiplayer. A hit for Formula 1 fans, but probably neglectable for everyone else.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5): An extraction shooter in a dark Wild West setting. The principle of the game: You hunt bosses, take their loot and then have to leave the game zone safely, while other teams of players are doing exactly the same thing and want to stop you. You can play alone or with up to two players.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5 and PS4): A Japanese action game with a voxel look in which you fend off monster attacks online with up to four players. It is the only title of the month that also runs on the PS4.

If you haven’t added all of September’s games to your library yet, you should hurry up: Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes are only available until October 5th.
PlayStation Plus players criticize the offer
The reactions on Reddit are clear. “Strong contender for the worst month,” writes user Moonshake0, for example. User GodAwfulFunk commented: “I usually think people cry too much, but this is actually the worst month I’ve ever seen.”
It’s particularly painful for many people that this happens in the Halloween month of October not a single real horror game is in the line-up. Hunt: Showdown certainly finds advocates in the thread, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 gets high marks from those who know the series. However, these voices are largely lost in the wake of general disappointment.
