WinRAR 7.01 fixes a possible crash and more than Beta 1

Even though Windows 11 can already unzip RAR files, software programs such as 7-Zip, Nanazip or WinRAR are sometimes necessary. Version 7.01 has now been made available as the first beta for WinRAR. Some corrections have been made in this version.

Here is the list of changes:

  • Updating an encrypted file in a secure RAR archive resulted in a corrupted archive. If the updated file was the first in the archive, no password was specified when starting the update, and encryption of the file name was not enabled in the updated archive.
  • WinRAR 7.00 crashed after switching to flat folder view mode from a subfolder of the archive
  • The -ep4 switch duplicated the specified path instead of excluding it when extracting
  • If an archive created with a Unix RAR version contained symlinks with path separators in the target paths, these characters could be broken when modifying such an archive with Windows RAR
  • Invalid file names appeared in WinRAR error messages for renaming and executing files
  • The SFX command “Link” did not recognize empty parameters such as “Link=D”, “folder”, while it correctly recognized parameters without quotes such as “Link=D,,folder”.
  • Volume reconstruction did not work in WinRAR.exe when the “rc” command was specified with a .rev file, e.g. E.g. “WinRAR rc arc.part1.rev”. Unlike RAR, WinRAR only had to use the .rar file name here.
