Wine 9.8 and Wine Staging 9.8 Officially Released

Held experimental release of an open implementation of the Win32 API – Wine 9.8. Since the release of 9.7, 22 bug reports have been closed and 209 changes have been made.

  • Engine Wine Mono with the implementation of the .NET platform updated to release 9.1.0.
  • Files generated using the Interface Definition Language (IDL) use components that fully support execution in interpreted mode.
  • Improved RPC/COM support on ARM platforms.
  • Closed error reports related to the operation of applications: Solid Edge, Microsoft Office 97 installer, Lotus Approach, gldriverquery.exe, Radiosure, SimSig, iZotope Product Portal Portal, VTFEdit, Across Lite, Falcon BMS, Corsair iCUE 4, HWMonitor 1.53, vcrun2008 .
  • Error reports related to the operation of games are closed: Battle.net launcher, Recettear.

Besides, formed project release Wine Staging 9.8, which provides advanced builds of Wine that include incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for adoption into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 430 additional patches. The new release of Wine Staging brings synchronization with the Wine 9.8 and vkd3d codebase. Added a patch with the implementation of the method ID3DXEffect::SetRawValue in Direct3D 9. Updated patches vkd3d-latest, odbc-remove-unixodbc and ddraw-GetPickRecords.

6 patches have been transferred to the main Wine, 5 of which are related to increasing the functionality of the implementation of the WIDL (Wine Interface Definition Language) interface description language, and one to providing the ability to build the stdole32.tlb library with the “–oldtlb” flag. Removed patches ntdll-CriticalSection, Pipelight and winex11-XEMBED, which were no longer relevant.
