Windows 11 Gaining momentum: The Beginning of a New Era!

While Windows 11 is still waiting for its big breakthrough with the general public, there is at least a silver lining for Microsoft. According to a new hardware and software survey from Steam, more and more gamers are relying on Windows 11.

Windows 11: More and more Steam users are relying on the current Microsoft OS

In January 2024, at least 44.24 percent of Steam users are already on Windows 11 – an increase of 2.29 percent compared to the previous month. In April 2023 it was still 33.4 percent. Meanwhile, Windows 10 suffered a decline of 2.02 percent compared to the previous month. This suggests that most new Windows 11 users simply upgraded from Windows 10.

Windows 11 no longer runs on your old computer? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! We'll show you how you can still get the current Microsoft OS running:

Despite this development Windows 10 remains the front runner – at least for now. According to the Steam hardware and software survey, Windows 10 was used by 51.43 percent of users in January 2024.

Steam survey shows: AMD is slowly catching up

The Steam survey data shows another interesting development: More and more Steam users are using an AMD chip in their system. Meanwhile, 34.25 percent of people use a Team Red CPU. Intel is still quite far ahead with 65.7 percent, but constant drops are wearing away the stone.

The recent hype surrounding the Steam Deck and some of its alternatives may also have something to do with the AMD upswing. After all, most handheld consoles use a chip from AMD – including the Asus ROG Ally:

While things are looking quite good for AMD when it comes to processors, Team Red still has hardly anything to report on Steam when it comes to graphics cards. Nvidia continues to dominate the list of most used GPUs in the Steam survey. It remains to be seen whether AMD will turn things around here too. However, little progress appears to have been made here in recent years.
