Xiaomi has updated many of its phones to HyperOS in recent months. The goal was to address the existing problems of MIUI and fundamentally take the operating system to the next level. HyperOS was intended to give Xiaomi's software a new identity. Although the first version was promising, HyperOS is not really a revolution, but rather an evolution of MIUI.
But the story doesn't end here. Xiaomi is already working on the successor to HyperOS 1.0. The second version will be based on Android 15 and the operating system is expected to be released in the third or fourth quarter. You can read which phones and tablets will receive the update here.
HyperOS 2.0 release date
Xiaomi could officially announce HyperOS 2.0 together with the Xiaomi 15 serieswhich is planned for the fourth quarter of 2024. The first updates for already released devices should appear shortly afterwards, after the release of Android 15. This could be released as early as August with the new Pixel 9 phones.
Which devices should receive the update?
Although there is no official confirmation yet about which devices will receive the HyperOS 2.0 update, we can get an idea based on Xiaomi's update policy and past trends.

HyperOS 2.0: Improvements and innovations
It is not yet fully known how comprehensive the update to HyperOS 2.0 will be and what improvements it will bring.
The following new features should be part of the update:
- Redesigned Control Center: The Control Center is redesigned with smoother animations and better aligned switches.
- Better notification control: Improved notification management that consolidates multiple notifications from one source into a single view.
- Improved Always-on Display (AOD): More customization options and personalized messages for the Always-on Display.
- New super wallpapers: Two new categories of super wallpapers, namely desert and ocean themes, are to be added.
- Improved animations: A better animation engine is expected, which should make OS animations appear smoother.
- Revised apps and icons: The app icons and user interface will be redesigned. The camera user interface will also be changed.
- Xiaomi HyperMind 2.0: An AI-powered feature designed to automatically optimize the device’s performance and battery life.
HyperOS 2.0 should be the first to arrive with the Xiaomi 15 devices. It is very possible that even more devices will receive the update that are not listed above. As soon as there is more concrete news on this, we will inform you promptly.
