After the success of the first part, rumors of a sequel quickly arose. And since the end of 2022 it has finally been known: “Death Stranding 2” has long been in the works. At that time, game designer Hideo Kojima showed a first trailer and announced that we are dealing with a title for the PS5. Other platforms are likely to follow.

Since the announcement, there has been occasional word about “Death Stranding 2”. However, there were largely no major announcements and presentations. This raised the question of what phase the development is currently in. New information arrived at the beginning of the week.

Production is in the adjustment phase

Some time after the release of the latest trailer for “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” Hideo Kojima confirmedthat filming and recording with the cast has been completed. The game is currently in the “adaptation phase” which will last approximately one year.

A PlayStation showcase is reportedly coming up and will air in May. “Death Stranding 2″ could also make an appearance here.

In the above interview, Kojima also commented on the trailer shown in February. The game designer stated that he wanted to showcase the game's theme, overall look and gameplay. He also wanted to use the scenes to illustrate which elements were taken from the original “Death Stranding” and how different characters are connected to each other.

You can watch the trailer again in the message below:

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is scheduled to release for the PS5 sometime in 2025. The action takes place on a new continent and follows protagonist Sam Bridges as he attempts to create the Chiral Network.
