Recently, a car has really made a name for itself in crash tests.
In the latest evaluation released by C-NCAP, I found that Skyworth EV6 got a “one-star” score.
That’s right, it’s Skyworth, the TV company that everyone is familiar with, and they also make cars. This car EV6 is a model that will be launched in 2021.
Nine out of ten cars produced by C-NCAP in these years are five-star, so they are also given the title of “Five-Star Wholesale Department”.
As a result, this time the wholesale department directly issued a one star, which is as rare as Brother Neck, I brought a girlfriend home for the New Year.
So I’m also curious as to how it got one star.
Not much to say, let’s just look at the test results.
C-NCAP’s collision evaluation of vehicles is generally considered from three aspects: occupant protection, pedestrian protection, and active safety.
Among them, occupant protection is the part with the highest proportion, with a weight of 60%.
The scores of Skyworth EV6 in this item are: 29.371 (full score 64 points) in the crash test, 3.699 (full score 7 points) in the whip test (testing the protection of the seat to the head during a rear-end collision), and the occupant protection score rate is 38.45%.
This result is definitely a failure, but it doesn’t make sense just by looking at the score. Let’s talk about a few specific items.
The first is the side column impact test. The vehicle hits the rigid column at a speed of 32km/h at an angle of 75°, as shown in the figure below.
The full score of this item is 16 points. As a result, EV6 directly got a duck egg. The reason is that the chest compression deformation exceeds the limit value.
Another one is the frontal 100% overlapping rigid barrier crash test, where the vehicle hits the rigid wall head-on at a speed of 50km/h.
EV6 In this test, the children in the back row got zero points for the head, neck, and chest items, which means that there are attacks coming from these three directions at the same time, but you don’t have any defensive equipment, and the result is that you don’t have a block. Yes, all hang up.
The protection of occupants is definitely the key to vehicle safety. The reason why we have developed seat belts and airbags is to reduce damage to passengers in the vehicle when the vehicle collides.
Among all the models tested by C-NCAP, the average occupant protection score rate is 73.08%, while the EV6’s 38.45% score is only half of the average score, which is really shocking…
Let’s look at pedestrian protection again. This mainly evaluates the protection effect of vehicles hitting external pedestrians. It is also the item with the highest score for Skyworth EV6. It scored 9.219 points out of 15 points and the scoring rate was 61.46%.
Finally, there is active safety, which is also very good, with a scoring rate of only 30.26%.
After the three weighted summaries, the total score rate of Skyworth EV6 is 39.9%. According to the star rating standard of C-NCAP, it is the lowest grade of one star.
Although the currently implemented 2021 version of the C-NCAP regulations has optimized many test items, and the difficulty factor has been significantly improved compared to before, but among the 29 models tested in 2022, most of the models are still “five-star” pass.
In the past few years, the progress of domestically-produced cars is obvious to all. The manufacturing is being upgraded and the technology is being innovated. It is no exaggeration to say that it is much more difficult to get one star than five stars.
But it’s not over yet, you will be even more surprised when you see the price of this car.
The official guide price of the Skyworth EV6 520 smart version tested by C-NCAP is 205,800…
And on the day when C-NCAP released the list, the price of EV6 also increased by 8,000 due to the withdrawal of the state subsidy.
Looking at the specific configuration is even more incredible, the 520 travel version priced at 185,800,There are only two airbags for the main and co-pilot, no ESP (body stabilization system), and no reversing image.
I remember that when Wuling Hongguang MINI EV first came out, many people complained that this car had few airbags, and it would definitely fall apart upon impact.
Knowing the car emperor once tested the MINI EV colliding with the old man, and the result was that the MINI EV won, proving that he is a serious car.
C-NACAP has not tested the MINI EV, so we don’t know how many stars it will get. But after all, it only sells for tens of thousands of yuan. If it doesn’t get high scores, everyone can at least understand it.
But the EV6 dared to sell for 200,000 yuan, but it still crashed. This is really the biggest joke I have heard recently.
Even the Hechuang Z03, which has the second-to-last collision score announced in this batch, also got Samsung, and the price of 158,800 is one level lower. But even so, its comprehensive score rate is 71.3%, which is much higher than EV6’s 39.9%.
Anyway, Brother Neck’s evaluation of this car is only two words, bad review!
But having said that, many people may have a question, they have never heard of this Skyworth car before, when did it come out?
In fact, Skyworth is different from those new forces that entered the car circle for the first time in the past two years. It started building cars as early as 2010.
At that time, Huang Hongsheng, the founder of Skyworth Group, relied on his success in the field of home appliances to establish Kaiwo New Energy. Not long after, Kaiwo, with strong capital, took down the poorly managed Nanjing Jinlong Bus and entered the field of commercial vehicles.
Many people may have ridden the Wobus ▼
In 2017, King Long won the passenger car production qualification, and Kaiwo took advantage of the opportunity to enter the passenger car field. In order to distinguish it from commercial vehicles, Kaiwo established Tianmei Automobile based on the passenger car department in 19 years.
In 2020, Timmy Automobile released its first model ET5 (named earlier than Weilai), but this car has not gained much fame. By March 21, the sales volume was less than 700.
The response of the first model was mediocre, so Huang Hongsheng simply changed the name of “Tianmei” and directly changed its name to “Skyworth Automobile”.
It should also be changed. People who don’t know the name of Tianmei think it is the TiMi of pesticides.
And Tianmei ET5 has become the current Skyworth EV6.
When Skyworth EV6 was launched, Huang Hongsheng also found another way in publicity, taking health care as a major selling point of the model.
According to the official introduction, Skyworth EV6 can monitor life and health indicators such as blood pressure and heart rate by taking pictures, and evaluate the user’s vital signs through artificial intelligence algorithms.
Moreover, this car is also known as the introduction of brain-computer interface technology. Through the smart brain wave hypnosis eye mask equipped on the car, it can measure brain waves and automatically play sleep aid music to improve sleep quality.
Huang Hongsheng said, “I have to take a nap in the car for half an hour every day, and even the old problem of high blood pressure has been greatly improved.”
I’ll go, I’ve only heard that buying a bag can cure a disease, but now buying a car can also cure a disease?
However, although the EV6 has unearthed other configurations that are not available, the sales of this car in the domestic market are average, with about 1,000 units per month.
In September last year, Skyworth released the second model Skyworth HT-i. The biggest highlight of this car is the power system. The official said that this is the electric hybrid system jointly developed by Skyworth Automobile and Fudi Power after 28 months. Fudi Power is a subsidiary of BYD.
The power parameters of Skyworth HT-i are almost the same as those of BYD’s DM-i. Good guy, even BYD has a replacement.
However, although the DM-i was sold out last year, I really do not recommend buying this flat replacement.
Because comparing the HT-i and EV6, you will find that the body parameters such as wheelbase and wheelbase are basically the same. Combined with the appearance, this car is a plug-in hybrid version of EV6.
EV6 got one star, how many stars do you think HT-i will get?
Skyworth sold more than 10,000 cars last year. After becoming famous this time, it may be difficult to surpass last year’s sales.
Finally, it is quite interesting that among the EV6 sales announced by Skyworth, in addition to the domestic market, there are also overseas exports, and the proportion is not small.
In Turkey, Skyworth’s market share is 14%, equal to that of Renault and only 5 percentage points behind Mercedes-Benz.
Moreover, at a local event in Turkey, this SUV of Skyworth was also selected as the best electric car of the year in 2022. Just such a car that cannot be sold in China can still win the annual car award abroad…
The reason why Skyworth cars can be sold in Turkey is because of Skyworth Group’s channel advantages. As early as more than ten years ago, they took orders locally.
The export of domestically produced new energy vehicles has repeatedly hit new highs in the past two years. This is something we are very proud of.We don’t need to be modest, the current domestic tram level is the first echelon in the world.
But if what we sell to foreigners is a vehicle that cannot even guarantee the most basic passenger safety, there is no doubt that this is not a good thing for Chinese brands to go overseas collectively.
Of course, I still hope that Skyworth can truly realize the problem through this collision and improve its own car-making level. Otherwise, if BYD builds all overseas channels, Skyworth may not know who else to sell its cars to.
