Again and again vassals more or less discreetly point out the strange figures to us. But why exactly? In a Reddit thread Fans discuss the background.

Just a viewpoint or a treasure map?

What is quite obvious is that the places where statues were placed often serve as viewing points. Most of the time they are located on rocky outcrops, peaks and cliffs that are sometimes difficult to reach.

When we reach the statue, we are rewarded with more than just a view of the entire surrounding area. There are often so-called seeker medallions hidden nearby, which we can exchange at the career guild for valuable rewards. A visit could definitely be worthwhile – if not just for this reason.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is worth it just for THIS open world!

Because many fans report that the statues point us to valuable loot. They all represent a figure with one arm pointing in a certain direction. If you follow the clue, you can come across particularly rare items.

However, this can prove difficult. On the one hand, it is not clear how far you have to go in the indicated direction. And on the other hand, many of the statues are damaged, making it difficult to see where they are facing. In this case, notes found at the foot of the statue are intended to provide a clue to the location of the treasures, such as unoleian writes.

A dark secret

But who are the statues supposed to represent? Fans also have a theory about this that reveals a lot about Vermund's history. And it is based on the interesting observation that the heads of statues were generally chopped off in the Vermund region, but not in Battahl.

Loud QuoF2622 it is said to be the founder of the human kingdom Vermund:

[…] This is Rothais, the founder of Vermund and a former Awakened. The head is chopped off because he is a beastren, but you can find the statue anywhere in Battahl with the head intact.

Apparently your vassals keep mentioning a rumor that refers to how Odd_Main1876 explained:

Do you remember when they [die Vasallen] say Vermund was originally a beastren nation? Well, the founder was a beastren himself, but his statues were desecrated. Probably […] they were people who wanted to keep the origin of their kingdom secret.

We haven't yet gotten to the bottom of the secrets of the statues ourselves, but we definitely want to get started. How are you? Have you ever taken a closer look at the statues and wondered what their meaning is? Or have you already discovered a treasure with their help? Feel free to tell us in the comments!
