We’re Frustrated with Gray Zone Warfare, Integrity Influencers Report

Perhaps you saw it in your news feeds, a first phase of playtests opened last Thursday for Gray Zone Warfare. It was only accessible to VIPs, that is to say influencers, the main communication channel of the MADFINGER Games studio. True to their reputation and galvanized by the incredible sense of importance that developers gave them, most of them started with titles stuffed with “Amazing”, ” Tarkov killer” and other “Insane”, to finally gradually return to slightly more nuanced comments (but not all). Indeed, they now emphasize the potential, and get lost in conjectures about how developers could improve this or that point. After watching a few videos from FPS specialists known to be rather moderate (notably MeDawg And BigFryTV), several elements seem quite clear. There are obviously other reviews (positive and negative), but here are the ones we have retained:

  • It is very beautiful.
  • The healing mechanics are very advanced and seem successful.
  • The feeling of the fights is very close to Ground Branch Or Weapon 3that is to say, not many sensations.
  • The game is mainly PvE oriented.
  • the AI sucks and what's more, the enemies are bullet sponges.
  • The loot phase is uninteresting.
  • The quests are so boring that after the second one, people will try to do PvP.
  • Between points of interest, the game is very empty (and boring).
  • The helicopter travel method encourages toxic behavior by camping the landing zones (fixed for everyone).
  • PvP clashes don't really bring tension, because in 5 minutes, you can return to your point of death.
  • All players of all factions have the same equipment, which means that there is no point in recovering it from a killed opponent.
  • The entire gameplay loop becomes boring in less than 10 hours.

Some things can be easily improved, such as enemy resistance, adding loot and equipment. But others, like improving artificial intelligence without destroying server performance, or creating immersive and interesting quests, will require a lot of work. This is also the main information that we can take away from these videos: it is not ready, and fortunately the game is not open to just any idiot. According to these influencers, it would take a few more years before we see the studio's ambitions realized. Despite everything, the experience, although frustrating and sometimes painful, revealed incredible possibilities, which marked those who were able to browse the pre-alpha version of Gray Zone Warfare.

So don't be too eager to test Gray Zone Warfare, it would probably be a bad thing to see early access arrive in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can still add it to your wish list from its Steam page.
