Was removing pin-up posters an oversight? Aspyr faces the criticism

In the last few days, the second major update to “Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered” caused criticism. The patch removed various pin-up posters of the protagonist Lara Croft. In the meantime, the developers at Aspyr Media also came forward with a statement.

Almost two weeks ago, the developers at Aspyr Media released the second major patch for “Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered”. Originally, the update was only supposed to some mistakes the new editions will be fixed.

However, only shortly after the update was released, angry players spoke up and spoke about it removed content. In detail it was about the pin-up posters of the protagonist Lara Croft, which were originally seen in the fourth level of “Tomb Raider 3”.

After installing the second update these suddenly disappeared. After the community even spoke of censorship, the responsible developers at Aspyr Media also took a stand on the whole thing in a short statement.

Was the missing poster just an oversight?

In a statement, the studio noted that the posters were accidentally removed and will return in the next update. However, Asypr Media has not yet given a specific date for the patch.

“Thank you to the Tomb Raider community for your continued feedback and support for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Starring Lara Croft. In the recently released Patch 2, we made several texture and graphics updates to the HD version,” said the developers.



“As part of these updates, we accidentally removed the posters in Sleeping With The Fishes (The Lost Artifact) in the HD version of the game. We have fixed this and restored the textures in Patch 3,” it continues.

More remasters in the works?

It's not just Lara Croft's removed pin-up posters that have recently been a topic of conversation. In addition, the community came across possible hints of another remaster in “Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered”. In detail it is about a possible comeback of “Tomb Raider 4: The Last Revelation”.

The community claims to have discovered the supposedly crucial clue on the screen of a radar that can be seen in “Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered”.



On the one hand, the release date of “Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered” is on the radar on February 14, 2024. A user also discovered the coordinates of Giza on the radar. The city where “Tomb Raider 4: The Last Revelation” takes place.

However, Aspyr Media has not yet wanted to officially announce a possible remaster of “Tomb Raider 4: The Last Revelation”.
