Another family

Vin Diesel is obviously very renowned for his sense of family in Fast & Furious, one of his favorite sagas. However, there is another that propelled his career: The Chronicles of Riddick, a science fiction saga finally renowned whose first feature film (which was originally called Pitch Black) saw the light of day in 2004. The story is that of Ridick, a merciless killer who crashes on a fearsome planet that is about to plunge into a mysterious eclipse. Well, a lot happens in three films, but Let's say the whole thing turns out to be appreciated for its photography, its adult tone, its dark atmosphere and a universe with certain potential.

The latter also gave rise to a real franchise with animated short films, animated comics, a novel and even two video games. The third film, simply titled Riddick, now dates from 2013 and For more than a decade we have been curiously waiting for a fourth part, which we have been assured of being prepared for a while. But this time, it's the right one: Riddick 4 is about to take a decisive first step.

Ridick and Morty

So it's official and Variety relayed the announcement: Production on Riddick 4, which should be called Riddick: Furya, will begin in August 2024. Filming in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom is notably planned.

The film will focus on its plot on Furya (unsurprisingly), the home world of Riddick who will make his comeback there. In any case, that's what was proclaimed when the film was announced ten years ago. Note that the work will once again be directed by David Twohy, who is also the screenwriter. On the production side, it was Vin Diesel who wore the hat via his company One Race Films with other producers like Joe Nerauter, Samantha Vincent, Thorsten Schumacher and Lars Sylvest.

Now all we have to do is wait for a release date, or even just a specific window. Likewise, we are patiently patient for the casting.
