Europe launched a carbon shuttle with very unusual “astronauts” on board. Funny pictures provided by Space.com.
According to the source, space architects from Slovakia and the Czech Republic launched a thousand LEGO astronauts into space. For them, special shuttles made of carbon composite material were created on a 3D printer.

Mini-astronauts were launched in three separate spacecraft, 330 each. The little people rose to a height of about 34 km in balloons that burst after entering the stratosphere. Landing platforms returned to Earth on parachutes and landed in the crown of a tree.

The difficulty of this seemingly amusing task was to prevent the little astronauts from falling off the platform during the rise and explosion of balloons. Scientists deliberately left them on the platform without any dome and therefore the figures were directly in space, and not inside some kind of container.
Now the little men will be raffled among buyers of LEGO sets in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
