Vanellope and Ralph are available, big overhaul of the improvement system

The sweets are here

After the seabed with the universe of the Little Mermaid, Disney Speedstorm welcomes the Kingdom of Candy with Ralph and his companions. Gameloft's racing game connects the Disney & Pixar universes and this seventh season is no exception to the rule: new characters, new circuit, new missions, new companions, new rewards, everything is relaunched.

More concretely, here are the five new characters available:

  • Vanellope (Sprinter)
  • Ralph (Brute)
  • Sergeant Calhoun (Brute)
  • His Candy (Canaille)
  • Félix Fixe Junior (Tank)

However, other new features are expected, with some good and some not so good, as the community anticipated a few days ago. To begin, we welcome a whole new upgrade system. Goodbye to the (too) many improvement coins that piled up for the less rare, we say hello to a new unique currency. Driver progression has also been smoothed since you now need pilot shards to progress at each level, allowing you to avoid being blocked at certain levels. A priori, this new system is positive, but the balancing will only be felt in a few weeks, once the saved resources have been used up.

The interface has also been updated, including the arrival of a menu world's mapwhich brings together the events of the current season but also the starting circuits as well as another new feature: tournaments. This new championship highlights former drivers from previous seasons, with Monsters & Company opening the show. We already know that Lilo & Stitch and Toy Story will follow soon.

But this new tournament mode takes the opportunity to add a new layer of monetization psince he is entitled to his own Battle Pass. With a free part and another paid one (at €7.99), it offers shards and rewards linked to Sully, Bob and his companions. This new Golden Pass can only be purchased with real real money. And while we're on the subject of monetization, the main Battle Pass has also been revised, segmented into two parts over the course of a season, requiring you to checkout twice. However, the guarded Tokens still seem active and can still be purchased in stores, which brings a little nuance to the fears raised a few days ago by the community. It remains to be seen whether they will permanently disappear in the next season.
