Update 2.2 brings new features for the anniversary





Although developer CD Projekt Red had already distanced itself from “Cyberpunk 2077”, a new update for the action role-playing game has now surprisingly been announced. Patch 2.2 will be presented tomorrow, Tuesday – in keeping with the fourth anniversary of “Cyberpunk 2077”.







Only six months ago, developer CD Projekt Red announced that they were finally moving away from it “Cyberpunk 2077” would distance themselves and all follow-up work would be completed. But how the Polish studio is now surprising about the Short message service X announced that there will still be an update for “Cyberpunk 2077”.

Accordingly, the developers seem to have continued to work on “Cyberpunk 2077” behind the scenes despite their statements. Update 2.2 for the futuristic action role-playing game is now on the way. The patch will be officially presented in a live stream tomorrow, Tuesday. In keeping with this, “Cyberpunk 2077” is also celebrating its fourth anniversary tomorrow.

Anniversary stream provides a preview of Update 2.2

As developer CD Projekt Red has announced, the livestream for the anniversary of “Cyberpunk 2077” will take place on December 10, 2024 at 5 p.m. German time. Interested players can use the streaming platform as usual Twitch watch. In addition, the show will also be shown simultaneously on the official for the first time CD Projekt Red YouTube channel transmitted.

It remains to be seen what changes fans of “Cyberpunk 2077” can look forward to with the upcoming update. Most likely these are further bug fixes and improvements. But completely new features would also be possible. “Cyberpunk 2077” may also be optimized for the PS5 Pro with the new update 2.2 in order to benefit from the console’s more powerful hardware.

Successor to Cyberpunk 2077 already in development

“Cyberpunk 2077” was originally released on December 10, 2020. The action RPG had to struggle with a catastrophic start. The PS4 version of “Cyberpunk 2077” in particular was plagued by numerous technical problems. Over the years, developer CD Projekt Red has gotten the chaos under control and improved it with numerous updates.



Ultimately, “Cyberpunk 2077” became a huge success for the studio, selling over 30 million copies. So it's no surprise that a successor is already in development. Under the working title “Project Orion”, the “Cyberpunk 2077” successor is not being built in Poland, but in the North American branches in Boston and Vancouver. According to CD Projekt Red, the sequel would also be a typically American story.
