Unveiling of Wine 9.9 and Wine Staging 9.9

Held experimental release of an open implementation of the Win32 API – Wine 9.9. Since the release of 9.8, 38 bug reports have been closed and 246 changes have been made.

  • The ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) library is compatible with the WoW64 mode (64-bit Windows-on-Windows), which allows you to run 32-bit Windows applications on 64-bit Unix systems.
  • CPU detection has been improved on ARM architecture platforms.
  • The WineD3D implementation has been cleaned of obsolete features, such as the offscreen_rendering_mode setting, the ARB shader backend, the unused old method of rendering to the screen (render_offscreen) and the ARB_texture_rectangle textures.
  • Vulkan graphics API support has been updated to version 1.3.285.
  • Closed error reports related to the operation of applications: Password Memory 2010, Paint.NET 3.5.11, Exact Audio Copy, Opentrack.
  • Error reports related to the operation of the games are closed: Final Fantasy XI Online, Shadowgrounds Survivor, Crysis2, Racer, Dweebs and Dweebs 2, Batman and Head Over Heels, Syberia, Cybernoid 2, Prince of Persia 3D, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Total War: Shogun 2, Moorhuhn Director's Cut, Visual novel RE:D Cherish, FlatOut 1, FlatOut 3, Spelunky, Project Diablo 2, Disney Ratatouille.

Besides, formed project release Wine Staging 9.9, which provides advanced builds of Wine that include incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for adoption into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 427 additional patches. The new release of Wine Staging brings synchronization with the Wine 9.9 and vkd3d codebase. The new version has updated patches vkd3d-latest (integration of the latest version of vkd3d) and ntdll-Junction_Points (implements the capabilities required in MS Office 365 and NET Framework 4.0 installers).
