400,000 copies sold in two days. With such sales figures, Gray Zone Warfare is enough to pale many games, even some AAA ones. However, it is only a first-person shooter with a tactical and realistic dimension that is only available in early access. Behind this success, it must be said that the title by MADFINGER Games seems to have understood everything that makes extraction shooting games so charming to please fans of the genre while going further.

Gray Zone Warfare, a new tactical FPS experience

For those who still haven't tried it, Gray Zone Warfare takes place on a fictional island in Southeast Asiat. After a mysterious event, the entire region is put under international quarantine, once the civilian population has been evacuated. However, three private military companies hired by mysterious clients are sent to reveal the island's secrets and recover valuables.

In this mysterious context,The player finds himself in a first-person shooter that relies heavily on its realism, in particular through its ballistic simulation which promises to offer “precise values” and “authentic ballistic models”. All this aims to make each confrontation, each action all the more intense because in the event of death, you lose all the equipment recovered in the four corners of this map which is more than 42 km². Beyond inventory management, it is above all the customization of the weapon which is impressive since you can put and remove components at will to adapt to all situations. However, Gray Zone Warfare's most fascinating system is something else entirely.

400,000, but only 66% positive reviews: why?

What is most fascinating about Gray Zone Warfare, and which seems to have convinced many players, is its health system. Here, we do not find classic points of life, but another way of “faithfully” simulating the human body. So, each injury can affect your character's perception, but also their performance, which has a direct impact on gameplay. You will therefore have to use the right objects to treat the affected parts of the body, provided you know how to identify them.

Despite these sales figures and all these qualities, you can see on the game's Steam page that it only has an average overall rating from over 19,000 reviews. Among them, only 66% are positive, but why? Well quite simply because the game seems to suffer from some technical issues which spoil the experience, which means that players have expressed their dissatisfaction through Steam reviews. We hope that the MADFINGER Games teams will correct this problem in the coming weeks, but we remind you that the game is only in early access at the moment, which may explain these concerns.
