Sony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation with limited consoles in the look of the legendary console. On the official Chinese PlayStation channel, Sony provided an unboxing video that gives us a look at the contents of the “30th Anniversary Edition”.
In September, Sony announced that it would be celebrating the PlayStation's 30th birthday with a very special treat for fans. As part of the “PS5 30th Anniversary Edition”, the Japanese electronics giant is offering PS5– and PS5 Proconsoles in the look of the company's legendary first console.
The anniversary consoles will be released on November 21, 2024. To get in the mood for the approaching launch PlayStation China an unboxing video of the “PS5 30th Anniversary Edition” is available. The clip, which is around two minutes long, not only gives us a look at the PS5 console in the design of the original PlayStation.

PS5 Pro limited to just over 12,000 units
The “30th Anniversary Edition” version of the PS5 Pro should be particularly interesting for collectors. The special model of the new Sony console was limited to 12,300 copies worldwide. Sony also provided each of the PS5 Pro models with a unique engraving.
As was to be expected, the announcement of the limited PS5 Pro version immediately attracted scalpers. In Japan, Sony responded various measures to this development, which should prevent the coveted consoles from ending up with resellers.
In addition to the console in the iconic PlayStation gray, the “30th Anniversary Edition” bundle of the PS5 Pro includes a DualSense and a DualSense Edge in a matching design.
“The new limited edition designs pay homage to 30 wonderful years of gaming, a journey made possible by the passion and support of our fans and talented game developers,” Sony wrote in the official announcement.
