Travel back to 1997 in the Fallout series with this Amazon Prime Video nod

Series fallout from Amazon Prime makes numerous nods to the video games that inspired it. For example, it incorporates iconic elements such as the 10mm pistol from Fallout 1which obviously aroused the enthusiasm of the fans.

But that's not all ! You just have to look to find easter eggs, there are so many in this adaptation. There are references to Nuka Cola, the famous brand of Fallout soda, with the SPECIAL system (the method of psychological evaluation that the inhabitants of the Vaults use on children and people about to become adults). We even find nods to Indiana Jones, with the fridge scene, reminding us of Indy in his darkest hours on screen…

These references do not stop there: the series announces the arrival of new seasons, suggesting the inclusion of other elements of the franchise. For example, thehe Deathclaws, emblematic creatures of the series, could make their appearance in the next season.

In summary, the Fallout series does not just adapt the world of video games, it also celebrates this heritage by incorporating many elements familiar to fans, while hinting at new surprises for seasons to come.

Fallout 1 is a role-playing game developed by Interplay Entertainment and released in 1997. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic universe, after a nuclear war which devastated the Earth. The player takes on the role of an inhabitant of an underground shelter called the Vault, tasked with going out into the irradiated world to complete various missions and uncover the truth about the events that led to the apocalypse.

The game introduced the SPECIAL system, which allows players to customize their character by assigning skill points has seven different attributes: Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. These attributes influence the character's abilities and interactions with the game world.

Obviously what I'm telling you here will seem logical, even basic, to those familiar with the saga, but we must remember that it is this game which introduced all its universe bases and that its sequels are based on it.

We must also realize that at the time, Fallout doesn't belong to Bethesda yethaving introduced the first-person view in their first of the franchise, Fallout 3 released in 2008. Previously, the first two opuses were in an isometric view like Diablo, with a turn-based combat system.

You play as an inhabitant of Vault 13, whose mission is to find a cure to save the community from certain death due to a failure in their water purification system. To do this, you must go in search of the water control chip, stolen by Super Mutants. As usual in the series, you explore wastelands, ruined cities, irradiated deserts and abandoned facilities, while meeting various factions and characters, and discovering the consequences of nuclear war, all peppered with battles against creatures that have mutated under radiation.
