Tomb Raider I-III Remastered available today – Technical Analysis from Digital Foundry – Nintendo Switch

If since last summerthe owners of Nintendo Switch could already have fun with Lara Croft thanks to spin-offs, Lara Croft and The Guardian Of Light And Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris; from today, a little history lesson awaits them with the release of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered which compiles the three cult games that made Lara Croft a star and which were previously unpublished on consoles Nintendo– or almost. In fact, the Wii had the right to 2007 to the remake of the first episode with Tomb Raider: Anniversary.

This time, it's not about remakes but remasters faithful which also allow you to switch at any time between the original versions and the remastered versions. At first glance, this seems rather successful. Waiting our complete test, Digital Foundry carried out the technical analysis of the three games and despite very dark sequences (compared to the original games), the verdict is very positive. On Switch, the game runs in TV mode in 1080p and 60 fpsand in portable mode in 720p and 60 fps, with a few drops here and there. It is a priori, a superb way to (re)discover these three monuments with their unparalleled atmosphere and style. To find out more, watch the video Digital Foundry below.

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is available on virtually all current and last-gen platforms. For this video, I tested the game on Xbox Series X and S, PS5, PC, Steam Deck and Switch but it also works on Xbox One and PS4. I didn't feel the need to test every version, as this is a version where I think you can extrapolate from the results on other consoles and determine that everyone will have a solid experience.

What do I mean? Well, let's consider the weakest system – the Nintendo Switch. This delivers either 1080p60 in docked mode, or 720p60 in portable mode. It maximizes the system's display options, basically, and it does it without breaking a sweat. In each situation, I experienced no frame rate issues. Mind you, there's always that chance that a dip will occur somewhere later in the game but, even if it does, I'd say we're looking at near-perfect performance.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is available on L'eShop of the Nintendo Switch at the price of €29.99.(€26.99 until 02/15). The announced weight of the game(s) is 6.1 GB.
