What does the PS5 Pro offer?
In order to convince players of the PS5 Pro, Sony has delivered to us in the last few weeks technical details to the new console. The technical innovations of the PS5 Pro include a more powerful GPU and a faster CPU. These enable developers to display games in true 4K resolution at a stable 60 FPS.
The PS5 Pro also offers optional support for 8K. Even if Sony points this outplayers shouldn't expect many developers to make use of this feature in the next few years.
Players can also look forward to expanded ray tracing functions, which ensure even more realistic reflections and representations of reflective surfaces. One of the greatest strengths of the PS5 Pro is the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR for short, upscaling technology.
This allows developers to render their games internally in low resolutions and then scale the image to 4K. As initial tests showed, PSSR works in practice an extraordinarily good figure and ensures sharp and detailed images.
The price still causes debate today
The PS5 Pro will be released on Thursday, November 7th, 2024. While in principle there is little criticism of the technology of the hardware, it is still the price of the new console that is causing people to get heated.
Because even with some distance from the official unveiling, some players do not consider the purchase cost of 799.99 euros to be appropriate.
Especially since Sony ships the PS5 Pro without a drive. If you don't own this yet, you will have to purchase it separately for just under 120 euros if you also want to use your physical media on the new console.
The vertical stand is also not included with the PS5 Pro. This is separate available at a price of 29.99 euros.
