How the inhabitants of your island behave, move or interact with each other depends on their personalities. We’ll show you what personalities there are and what settings you can use to reach them.
How you influence personalities
At the end of creating your residents, you will see a table with five character traits. Here you decide whether the resident acts slowly or quickly or whether the person appears calm or lively. Depending on how you tick the boxes, your personality will change as a result.
Overall there is 16 different personalities with four overarching categories: Confident, Calm, Lively and Reserved. There are four additional personality types under each of these categories. The color of your residents’ house is also influenced by their natures.
If you don’t agree with a Mii’s personality, you can change them later too. Open the menu with the X key and select “Islander” and the resident. Click the Personality button below to customize.
All personalities and how you create them
If you want to see a personality overview of your island, click on your island the X button and select “Island Info”. Here under “Personality Overview” you can see what atmosphere there is on the island and how many residents have which personalities.

Calm
Serene residents are easy-going, thoughtful and honest. They don’t act hastily. Their color is orange.
Sensitive
Very sensitive. Can empathize well with others and has a slight tendency to be sentimental.
Hopeful
Positive, enthusiastic and always in such a good mood that it rubs off on others.
Warm-hearted
Reliable and considerate. Always puts the well-being of friends before your own interests.
Dreamy
Idealistic and romantic. Sometimes seems absent-minded, but also often shines with great ideas.
Lively
Lively residents are full of energy. They don’t think twice and often act instinctively. Their color is red.
Charming
Stylish and always on your toes! Is admired for it. Can adapt to new situations.
Adventurous
Bold, engaging, witty and charming to boot. Makes sure it never gets boring!
Swinging
Open-minded and personable. Easily transform problems into positive situations.
Spirited
