These cameo bots could join with DLC expansions

“AstroBot” scores with a variety of cameos from PlayStation icons, but some brands are missing so far. The game's credits suggest that they could be included in a future DLC.

The end credits of “Astro Bot” thank third-party providers and developers who gave the green light to use their characters. It is noticeable here that in some cases the associated bots are not found in the game. This is by no means the final state of affairs.

A little spoiler warning: The following text contains mentions of certain brands. If you want to find out for yourself which cameos are (not) featured in “Astro Bot,” you should exit here.

The developers and publishers listed include Ubisoft and Team17. Brands such as “Assassin’s Creed”“Rayman” and “Beyond Good & Evil”, but also “Croc” and “Worms”. The same applies to “Stellar Blade” and “Rise of the Ronin”who do not appear in “Astro Bot”.

One Concept drawing The game also features characters like Sweet Tooth from “Twisted Metal” and Fat Princess, who didn’t make it into the game despite being owned by Sony. Here too, the question arises as to whether owners of “Astro Bot” can expect such cameos to be added later.

In addition, famous franchises such as “Spider-Man” and “Final Fantasy”, which are closely associated with the PlayStation brand, are missing. “Spider-Man” in particular seems to be a big gap, as Insomniac's interpretations of Peter Parker and Miles Morales have been among the highlights of exclusive PS4 and PS5 games in recent years.

Since the launch version rewards players with a Cameo bot after each challenge, it would make sense that the DLC plan would continue this trend and introduce additional bots for new levels.

DLC for Astro Bot has long been planned

While it remains to be seen which cameos will be part of “Astro Bot” over time, certain content has long been set: Team Asobi has announced that free DLCs with speedrun and challenge levels are planned.

So it could be that characters like Ezio from “Assassin's Creed” or a bot from “Rayman” will soon find their way into the game. Alternatively, some of the clues could point to content that was planned for release but ultimately canceled.

More about Astro Bot on PLAY3.DE:

“Astro Bot” was released on Friday and features over 160 cameos from PlayStation characters from the console's 30-year history, with DLC expansions expected later this year.
