Preparations for the Gwent tournament
Before you can even consider registering for the Gwent tournament, you have to have a good enough deck. Otherwise you won’t be admitted at all and the clerk for the tournament, who is in the Passiflora brothel, will quickly send you away again. For optimal preparation, you should cross the following points off your checklist:
- Collect cards from merchants and tavern keepers: Play a game of Gwent against each merchant, tavern keeper and blacksmith. If you win, you get another card for your deck and can also buy additional cards from tavern keepers. This way you will have a large pool to draw from.
- Complete as many Gwent quests as possible: You get the really good cards through the Gwent quests, which send you to special characters all over Velen, Novigrad and Skellige. These are particularly good players or important supporting characters such as Zoltan Chivay, Vernon Roche or Delphinium. For a win against them you often even get a hero card. If you want to register for the tournament, there should be at least five heroes in your deck.
- Internalize strategies and advantages and disadvantages of the factions: Each faction in Gwent plays a little differently. The Northern Kingdoms and the Nilfgaard Empire are quite balanced, use spies and feints and are present on every battle line. Monsters, on the other hand, are strongly focused on close combat and pose a danger, especially with muster cards. The Scoia’tael, on the other hand, are very flexible and can adapt well to any combat situation. In our Gwent tips we give you all the information with card explanations and advanced strategies that you should master before the tournament starts.
