Interstellar travel comes at a cost

Unveiled in a breathtaking trailer at Game Awards 2023 last December, EXODUS is certainly the studio's first game Archetype Entertainment, but it's far from being the first title from its developers. Among them, we find big names in the video game scene, and particularly veterans of BioWare as James Ohlenwho is at the origin of the series Baldur's Gate (including the third part, this time developed by Larian Studioswas awarded the Game Awards by the way), but also Drew Karpyshynwho took care of the screenplay for Mass Effect And Mass Effect 2and whose paw we already recognize in the first trailer by EXODUS which you can view at the header of this article.

The story of EXODUS takes place 40,000 years after the death of planet Earth, and the departure of humans for Centauri, a galaxy certainly habitable but where humans are considered foreigners and must fight to survive. Players slip into the shoes of a Traveler (“traveler” in French) whose mission is to explore space to discover its secrets and help the human race to protect itself. But such a role has consequences: each journey undertaken by a Traveler will seem to last only a few days, but in truth it will cost him years, even decades with his loved ones, who will age and disappear while the Traveler will move in time and space. A scenario which is reminiscent of that of Interstellarand this is not the only point in common between the two works…

A very mysterious character

As announced by Matthew McConaughey himself to Game Awards 2023the American actor is also part of the project EXODUSand would even embody a important character in this new science fiction project. Even if it was he who revealed the first trailer for the game, he does not appear physically, and information about the character to whom he lends his voice (and perhaps his features, but nothing is 'is less certain) were until now quite rare. But it's in a Q&A video available on the game website or simply below as the developers of Archetype Entertainment confided in EXODUSalso giving some details about the character played by Matthew McConaughey :

How involved is Matthew McConaughey in EXODUS? He said he interacts with almost every character, what does that mean?

• Chad Robertson: The coolest thing we've seen so far are the theories about Matthew's role in our game. Ultimately, we think the way he's used in the game will surprise most people.
• James Ohlen: Matthew's role is very important. His character has an important presence from the start of the game, until the epilogue. He's doing a very, very good job, and we're very happy to have him on the team. And of course, there's a twist when it comes to his character, but we can't say much about that yet.

Obviously, the role of Matthew McConaughey is so important and potentially so subversive that we will probably have to wait for new images, or even the release of the game, to have more concrete information!
