The Upcoming Game That Might Cause Disappointment

The next Tomb Raider could well disappoint if this new wave of information is to be believed. This risks calming the ardor of early fans.

Miss Croft continues to turn heads almost thirty years after its creation (within two years, we're not going to quibble). Recently, the adventurer returned to the forefront with the Tomb Raider Remastered collection. A fresh take on his first three adventures which greatly appealed to early fans and allowed newbies to discover them. But if there is one game that everyone is waiting for, it is the beauty's next big adventure, currently in development at Crystal Dynamics.

A new game still very secret, what we know

The next Tomb Raider is a very well-kept secret, almost no information has been given by the studio except that the game will run under Unreal Engine 5 and that it should represent a different Lara from the last trilogy , a sort of mixture of all the versions of her that we have discovered over the years.
It is on the side of well-informed insiders that we must look. And if up until now it was very meager too, now several pieces of information have just been revealed by one of them, V Scooperalready known for some feats of arms.
We will still take the tweezers as usual. But the latter tells us that he has new information on the next Tomb Raider and if this turns out to be true, it risks chilling a lot of fans.

According to his information, the next Tomb Raider would be a completely open world. We are not talking here about vast areas to explore like in the reboot trilogy obviously, but rather an open world with a motorcycle to use at will and even a parachute. The game would apparently take place in India and would show us landscapes as vast as they are dense which we can therefore explore using our vehicles, or Lara's usual means: the strength of her arms and her ice axes, certainly.

The next Tomb Raider could well disappoint fans, but…

A drastic and unprecedented change in direction for the franchise. Yes, Lara has already offered herself more or less open environments, from the very beginning. Tomb Raider 3 notably, opens more than the first two, the 4 also. TR Underworld also offered rather vast environments to explore, by motorbike or by diving, and the latest Tomb Raider to date can also be seen as open world to the extent that we evolve in open levels and for the most interconnected and it is possible to travel as we wish. However, we are far from a free map like the current big open worlds and the next Tomb Raider could well move in this direction.

A bold choice for the studio, especially at a time when fans are massively demanding a return to basics, more old school games with real sensations of isolation and dangerous exploration like at the time.

It is obviously too early to draw any conclusions, especially since the insider does not reveal anything more. He says the game should be out in less than a year if all goes well, and we should see it soon. Wait and See as they say.
