The sequel to Medieval hit Kingdom Come Deliverance takes a darker turn – and I’m loving it!

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will arrive on the role-playing table of the video game world at the end of 2024. We took a look at the RPG sequel in advance – and what we saw looks extremely exciting.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 relies on old strengths, but wants to make them better

The Map of KCD2 should be twice as large like in the first part and this time it also includes a really large medieval city: Kutná Hora is huge, according to developer Warhorse Studios. It's even a little too big. Instead of wading through muddy and poor villages, you will be confronted with the heart of civilization in the European Middle Ages. There are also forests and rural areas that are included in the presentation really picturesque looked.

Hikes through the map should always be rewarded: hiding here so many secrets, which you can only find if you go off the path. And if you come across unpleasant surprises like wolves or bandits, you should know how to use your weapons, just like in the predecessor: In Real-time first-person combat you can prove yourself with swords, blunt weapons as well as bows, crossbows and the first models of medieval firearms. Sneak attacks should also be possible.

In terms of play, you should still have a lot of freedom in the character development of Heinrich. Although you play a fixed protagonist, you can be his appearancehis skills and his Design your equipment freely. While you always have to decide what to do and how to react to the events around you, you can also pursue a number of side jobs – such as Alchemy, Forge, Steal or Archery. Are you an honorable knight who always behaves heroically, or do you want to give in to darker urges?

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is supposed to be darker – and I'm looking forward to it

After the end of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Heinrich has one trauma to fight that will accompany you in the second part. In addition, he is from the Urge for revenge driven – a pretty dark combination that will probably put you and Heinrich to a tough test.

Not much was revealed about the story in KCD2, but apparently the problems have not gotten smaller, but rather bigger: Heinrich will find himself in the Affairs of Kings entangled and likely having to make difficult decisions as he embarks on his journey to becoming a true knight. And how that turns out is entirely up to you.

In addition to all the seriousness, there is certainly time for relaxation and fun: well-known characters like that Nobleman Hans Capon are performing again and I'm excited to see what escapades the two of them will have to endure this time.

Overall, I was only able to take a small look at Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 during the short preview. But what was shown there seems to me to be taking exactly the right path: a new Kingdom Come Deliverance that focuses fully on its strengths.

How dark KCD2 actually gets and how much of the story you can decide for yourself will certainly be revealed by the planned date at the latest Release end of 2024 experience. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
