Analysts have revealed the propensity of Russians to save money – the trend may continue during the New Year season. The fact that the Russians began to save before the holidays, writes “Kommersant”.
According to the publication, after the November sales, experts expect a sharp reduction in purchases. In addition, some restaurateurs fear a decrease in income from corporate events before the New Year.
Analysts at Kokoc Group expect a 20 percent reduction in the average check in online hypermarkets, and 16-17 percent for household goods, compared to last year. In the categories of electronics and jewelry, the average check may remain at last year’s levels – about 18 thousand rubles.
Earlier, Russians were warned about the rise in price of champagne for the New Year. According to Valentina Milashevskaya, an analyst for the commodity markets of the Finmir marketplace, prices for a sparkling drink will increase by 40 percent.
