Suddenly alone

Wandering around on a desert island off the coast of South America is pretty cool in principle, especially when you’re looking for a great romantic getaway. But it’s immediately less funny when an unpredictable storm destroys our boat, the only means of transportation, and strands us ad vitam aeternam (well, a priori) on this rocky and ultra-wild piece of land: this is exactly the situation of Ben (Gilles Lellouche) and Laura (Mélanie Thierry), who here star in this French Alone in the World directed by Thomasd Bidegain, who has already worked in the past by directing episodes of Bureau des Légendes, Selfe or Les Cowboys, but also by writing prestigious films like Un Prophète. “Suddenly Alone” promises to be a drama that is both powerful, formidable and also poetic due to the romantic relationship of its characters, pushed to their limits to survive at all costs.

Godzilla Minus One

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

Godzilla is an unconditional fan of cinema and even if Hollywood has appropriated him, we must not forget that he is above all Japanese: that is the whole point of Godzilla Minus One, namely a return to Japanese sources since this highly anticipated feature film is a pure product of the Land of the Rising Sun. The context here is anchored in the post-war period, while a radioactive monster wakes up to destroy the archipelago: its director Takashi Yamazaki fully assumes direct inspiration from the first Godzilla from 1954, but also from Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack from 2001 for a cocktail that is both modern and old-school damn tempting. In any case, the film was released in November in Japan and was a real success, so we are curious to see what it will do here.

Wonka

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

We all know Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or at least its most recent film adaptation by Tim Burton. Here we are talking about… a prequel to this famous story, specifically focused on Williy Wonka’s youth! To do this, director Paul King (the two Paddingtons in particular) therefore chose the Franco-American Timothée Chalamet for the title role, who will play the iconic and eccentric inventor through setbacks to revolutionize the world from the angle of gluttony. A sparkling, warm film, full of good humor and almost magic which make it the perfect product for the Christmas holidays. We’re still talking about building a gigantic chocolate factory and putting stars in the eyes of citizens, that’s enough to warm everyone’s hearts.

  • Cinema release : December 13, 2023
  • Director : Paul King
  • With : Timothée Chalamet, Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key

The Three Musketeers: Milady

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

After the first film “D’Artagnan”, here is the sequel, Milady, still directed by Martin Bourboulon and with a five-star cast: François Civil, Eva Green, Romain Duris, Vincent Cassel… There is plenty to do for this film which revisits the story of the three musketeers, exploring a crucial era in the history of France where the Kingdom saw itself divided by the wars of religion and threatened by England; here, D’Artagnan will go to save Constance Bonacieux, kidnapped before his eyes, and will have to ally himself with the mysterious Milady de Winter while war is declared. A good opportunity to cross swords in this French super-production, but not only that (it is a Franco-German-Spanish film) and a very big budget. Obviously, we advise you to have seen the first one, just to do things in order.

  • Cinema release : XXX December 2023
  • Director : Martin Bourboulon
  • With : Eva Green, François Civil, Romain Duris, Vincent Cassel

Follow_Dead

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

It’s not easy to stand out from other horror films in the horror sector, but some films always manage to find an original idea: here, Follow_Dead tells the story of Adam, a real internet troll who does not hesitate to respond aggressively to other Internet users… until a mysterious profile, called Dead_David, subscribes to his profile. It’s at this precise moment that things start to get dark since he feels an evil presence in his apartment, being taken by very hardcore visions and seeing himself stalked by the ghost of a downright creepy boy… obviously the David in question. Obviously, Adam will have to understand the why and the how and find a way to get out of this painful situation, the opportunity to unleash some macabre shots and jumpscares. We’ll see what happens, eh.

  • Cinema release : December 13, 2023
  • Director : John McPhail
  • With : Augustus Prew, Andrea Bang, Justin Long

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

The first Aquaman film established itself as the highest-grossing film in all of DC Comics: it is therefore no surprise that we are entitled to a sequel, called Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. We will therefore find dear Jason Moma, still in the scales of Arthur Curry, this time in a new adventure where he will go against a Black Mantra more angry than ever, determined to destroy the Kingdom of Atlantis. To do this, Aquaman will team up with his brother Orm, former king but imprisoned: in short, a giga blockbuster full of action and special effects, which will also mark the end of the DC Comics extended universe as we know it. knows since afterward, it was James Wann and Peter Safran who pursued him in their own way. We are curious, that goes without saying.

  • Cinema release : December 20, 2023
  • Director :James Wan

A dream team

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

To say the least, the American Saoma are not very good at football: in 2001, the team suffered the worst score of the World Cup, having lost 31-0 against Australia . So, in an attempt to change the situation, a Western coach who is not really given a choice (here played by Michael Fassbender) is transferred to Samoa, with the heavy responsibility of raising the level or, at least, to make them score at least ONE goal in the run-up to the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. This is the pitch for A Dream Team, a frankly cool comedy-drama which explores the theme of defeat with lightness and warm good humor, quite typical of the staging of director Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor Ragnarok). We confirm and besides, the trailer should give you the willies.

  • Cinema release : December 20, 2023
  • Director : Taika Waititi
  • With : Michael Fassbender, Oscar Kightley, Kaimana

Vermin

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

Let all arachnophobes turn on their heels, run away and run as far as possible from this article: Vermin is clearly one of the films with the most palpable tension of this end of year. This is a French film, whose story takes place in a city in Noisy-le-Grand (yes, yes) where residents of a building will have to survive against the invasion of an army of ultra-aggressive spiders. It’s simple: the trailer sends shivers down your spine, playing with the fear of the insect that resides in each of us (right?) and coupled with quite striking realism. Potentially one of the very good surprises of 2023 and one that we will watch very closely, believe us.

  • Cinema release : December 27, 2023
  • Director : Sébastien Vaniček
  • With : Théo Christine, Lisa Nyarko, Jérôme Niel

Dream Scenario

The return of Godzilla and Aquaman, creepy spiders and Willy Wonka: films to see at the cinema in December 2023

Nicolas Cage finally back on top? It’s quite possible, because Dream Scenario promises to be excellent entertainment, both funny and touching, already noticed by critics. It must be said that the pitch is quite original: Paul Matthews, an ordinary professor, finds himself in the dreams… of millions of people, inexplicably. He then became one of the most influential celebrities of the moment and was the subject of numerous debates: how is this possible? Why him ? He himself finds himself psychotic and wondering about this new global notoriety, which suddenly takes an unexpected turn: in short, Dream Scenario already has the merit of arousing our curiosity with its concept and we can also count on renowned actors like Julianne Nicholson or Michael Cera, without forgetting the director Krisoffer Borgli who has already signed the great Sick of Myself in 2022.

  • Cinema release : December 27, 2023
  • Director : Kristoffer Borgli
  • With : Nicolas Cage, Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera
