The biggest threat in the Fallout universe

Uploaded on April 10 on Prime Video, the first season of the television adaptation Fallout was a hit with players, but also with a whole bunch of spectators who had never before set foot in the world of the license . To satisfy insiders and newcomers alike, the showrunners decided to focus on the broad outlines of the Fallout lore, necessarily omitting to place other references. Among the absences noted within these eight episodes, fans have noted that of the flayers, or deathclaws (Deathclaw in English). A formidable monster, one of the worst threats in the game, which unfortunately could not be observed in action in this first season. In the end, spectators were simply able to briefly discover a carcass of the monster. An effective teaser, which clearly shows that the creature has not been forgotten. Asked by TheWrapco-showrunner Graham Wagner assured that the flayers were indeed part of his team's plans and that they should play a role in future episodes.

We wanted to have some flayers, but didn't want to just waste it. It is such a monument. We want to keep things for Season 2 to address them appropriately, rather than adding them in the middle of this world-defining work that we did with Season 1. With Season 2, we'll finally be able to tackling some of the game's most iconic elements.

Keep some on hand

With this season 1, the showrunners therefore focused on the basis of the Fallout universe, the major elements allowing to best introduce spectators to this universe. But initially, the writers took a different approach and wanted to include as many elements as possible, as co-showrunner Geneve Robertson-Dworet explained.

There are all famous things, like the most obvious elements of Fallout that speak to even people who aren't gamers; Nuka, the flayers, whatever. These are the things that are most prevalent and we were tempted to include them in season 1. But at the same time, we didn't want to see a show that seemed written by people who just spent 10 seconds on the Wikipedia page of Fallout and didn't bother to cut deep. It was important for us to make these cuts with season 1. Hoping that it won't annoy the fans because we couldn't include everything, that they will support us and that they will pray that we have a season 2 so we can bring these things to the screen.

The showrunners therefore seem to have grasped the importance and richness of the lore of Fallout, certain elements of which would certainly have been spoiled in the eyes of fans if they had been misused in this first season. Now that the series has been a hit, Amazon has already renewed it for a season 2 which should allow us to delve further into this unique universe. We obviously can't wait to see more and meet Lucy and Maximus again.
