The Protorelic of Juno | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

The quest for the protorelic can start upon arrival in the region, at the start of chapter 4, when the team must set off for the airfield. No level is recommended for the various investigation reports because no fight is present in the context of their resolution.

Investigation report 1: a real shipwreck

The first report is located southeast of Transmission Tower #2, in a sort of makeshift encampment. On the table is a board of Fort Condor. If you liked the mini-game during the original game or during its overhaul in the INTERmission DLC of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, you will be served. The little treat is that here our heroes are transported inside the game and are transformed into polygonal characters, the old-fashioned way.

On the rules side, the goal is always to destroy the opposing commanding unit by pitting your troops against those of the enemy in a battle lasting three minutes. Two particularities should be noted. First, you cannot choose each unit individually. Instead, they are strategic formations that globally change the makeup of your units. Offensive, defensive or balanced, it's up to you depending on the layout of the opposing army.

Second, you have the choice between Cloud, Tifa and Barret to constitute your two heroic units. By using enough units, you increase a gauge. Once full, the hero can intervene using his skill then fight with the rest of the units as long as he has HP remaining.

Let's move on to the battlefield. The balance of power between allied and enemy units revolves around a rock-paper-scissors situation. Assailants (red units) attack in close combat and are effective against Gunners (green units). The latter attack from a distance and are effective against Protectors (blue units). And to complete the loop, these, specialized in defense, are effective against Attackers.

A favorable battle flow is to look to the right of your screen. Here you have a preview of the next enemy units that will be launched. From there, send the effective units against them, while at the same time gaining ground to destroy the enemy outposts, as well as the barbarian leader. Just be aware that each unit sent costs ATB, and the more powerful the unit, the higher the cost. This is indicated by the blue number at the top left of the unit icon.

For the first mission, the balanced attack/defense formation is sufficient to achieve victory. Note that you can switch the mini-game to easy mode by pressing L3 in its menu. From the start, two enemy soldiers will be deployed on the right, then two on the left. Around 2:30, all defensive units will arrive on your right. Then the remaining artillery units will move to your left. Finally, the last three attacker units will be deployed on your right.

Once the battle is won, the protorelic becomes accessible but is quickly discarded. So you're going to have to put it back somewhere else.

Investigation report 2: the rubble islet

The second report is located south of the wreck islets. You will find the game board on a very small table. For this Fort Condor mission, a defensive type training such as “defense oriented” or “siege defense”. Getting there with balanced training, however, remains possible.

At the very beginning of the battle, the enemy is going to be aggressive by overloading your right side so place the right units accordingly to avoid getting overwhelmed already. Around 2:30, he will start attacking you from the left and reduce the intensity of the forces sent a little since he will quickly run out of units. Keep an eye out for the two Cleaners sent at the same time on your left, around 1:30.

During the fight, watch out for the Wyvern, which can only be attacked with ranged shots, which can be done with Gunners, ballistae or trebuchets. Also beware of cruel beasts. They have little HP but are heading straight for your outposts and your fort. So eliminate them as a priority. Once the field is a little clearer, and before it is too late, send in your heroic units to finish the battle.

Once again, the protorelic disappears with the mysterious captain to a new part of Fort Condor.

Investigation report 3: at the old base

The third report is located south of the village Crow's Nest, on the edge of the coast. The “siege defense” training is recommended for this battle.

From the start, the Barbarian Leader will be sent to your right and must be eliminated fairly quickly. Around 2:20, a Wild Beast will rush towards your right, together with two defensive units launched on the left. And around 1:40, the configuration is similar with a Wyvern released on one side, and two offensive units on the other.

Trebuchets and ballistas will greatly help the defensive holding of your line while being able to attack enemy defenses from afar when placed towards the middle of the battlefield. Note that the same goes for the “princess” who fires her cannon. Also think about your Healers to keep your most valuable units alive as long as possible in terms of quality and number.

After that, the hardest part is over and you will have one minute left to destroy the enemy defenses as well as the “Princess”. Then use your heroic units if you still have them. At the end of the battle, the “princess”, who is in fact an evil sorcerer leaves with the relic. A final effort is then necessary.

Investigation report 4: remains of a camp

The latest investigation report is located in the northeastern heights of the region. The Fort Condor table is located in the middle of an encampment. For this last battle, and taking into account the opposing army, mainly filled with special units (gray), a formation focused on the attack is preferable. However, a defense formation is also viable, especially against the damage done by the two Cruel Beasts, and the defensive units can be tenacious against the Barbarian Leader or the Renegade Assailants, with their numerous HP.

From the start, one unit of each color prepares to arrive on both sides of the battlefield. On the right, a Healer and a Cruel Beast also arrive quickly. Around 2:15, a Wyvern appears on the right, as does, little by little, a unit of each color.

Around 1:15, your left will welcome a Barbarian Chief as well as the second Cruel Beast. There will then be one minute left to go and celebrate with the wizard. This can change its vulnerability by changing mode, so remember to have units in reserve that are effective in all circumstances. And with “Inch!” » he will attempt to temporarily immobilize your troops.

Once the wizard is defeated, you finally get the captain's protorelic. and unlock Fort Condor Mission mode. This is a more difficult version, the completion of which rewards you with a collectible for Johnny's lodge.
