New TOP or just another pass-through smartphone?
There were numerous rumors about the Galaxy S22 FE, but the phone never saw the light of day. This was a shame because Fan Edition products are an affordable way to experience the core features of more premium products. However, the Galaxy S23 FE does exist and it could arrive any day now. The origins revealed almost everything about the phone, and now information has emerged about the price of the device in the US.
It is reported that the price of the Galaxy S23 FE will start at $599. This will make it $100 more affordable than the Galaxy S21 FE and could help it become one of the best budget flagships of the year.
There are two reasons for this. Unlike the Galaxy S21 FE, the Galaxy S23 FE is not expected to feature the same processor as its more premium siblings. Rumors indicate that in the US the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, although the chip is not the latest, but is still relevant. It’s still fast enough for most smartphone use cases, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s not the latest chip from Qualcomm. But given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Galaxy S23 starts at $799, most people probably won’t mind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 if those price rumors materialize.

Another reason is that Google’s upcoming Pixel 8 will start at $699. While the Galaxy S23 FE’s triple camera setup, rumored to consist of a 50-megapixel main, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, and 12-megapixel telephoto camera, will likely take decent enough photos, it won’t even be a replacement for the Pixel cameras.
The Galaxy S23 FE’s low starting price could help Samsung win over consumers who aren’t too concerned about camera performance.
The design of the Galaxy S23 FE will be a mixture of the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy A54. It will have a 6.4-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 4,500mAh battery. International markets will apparently get the Exynos 2200 chipset. The phone will have 8GB of RAM, which will be paired with 128GB or 256GB storage.
While some rumors suggested the phone would be announced in September, October 4 now sounds like a more likely launch date, which would also see the Pixel 8 unveiled.
