The Potential for a Revolutionary Remake of Splinter Cell

If a generally well-informed leaker is to be believed, Splinter Cell Remake could literally offer a technological leap to the stealth game genre.

The leaker and dataminer Visceral has indeed discovered a unique mechanic that Splinter Cell Remake would use. Based on modern technologies, this could completely change the way you approach an infiltration game. Let's hope that this is not just a rumor, as the potential of such a feature is so tempting.

Splinter Cell Remake, or the return of the king of infiltration?

According to the latest news, Splinter Cell Remake could emerge from the shadows soon. In any case, it is not excluded that Sam Fisher will infiltrate the Ubisoft Forward scheduled for June 10. Remember that fans of the infiltration franchise have been orphans since 2013. Not content with making a remarkable comeback, the remake of one of the tenors of the infiltration game could do so in a very good way.

In addition to taking advantage of the solid Snowdrop engine used by Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws, Splinter Cell Remake could make use of modern technologies in its game mechanics. Visceral has in any case made a discovery in this sense, indicating that the title could leverage ray tracing in a unique way. Enemies could indeed detect the player thanks to these visual and audio rays.

Sam Fisher will have to hide the rays of his iconic glasses

Such use of ray tracing as a game mechanic in its own right would therefore be a first in an infiltration game. Splinter Cell Remake could then achieve a double feat. That of putting this flagship Ubisoft franchise back in the spotlight, and establishing a new standard in its own genre. If we of course ignore the fact that the enemies do not see the iconic green lights of Sam Fisher's glasses. If this mechanism centered on ray tracing is used well, we can legitimately wonder if the reflections of said glasses will also be taken into account.

Of course, this is all just a rumor at the moment. To be sure, you will have to wait for an official announcement from Ubisoft. Let's hope that the Forward conference coming in less than two months will provide some answers to fans missing Splinter Cell. Assassin's Creed fans should also be spoiled by the announcement of the highly anticipated Red taking place in Japan.
