After the controversial loot shooter Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, many Batman fans want a new Batman game from the Arkham series more than ever. Your wish has now been heard, but instead of enthusiasm there is a lot of criticism of the new Batman: Arkham Shadow.
A new Batman that very few people can play
What kind of game is this? Batman: Arkham Shadow, developed by Camouflaj, the studio behind games like République and Iron Man VR, will be released exclusively for the Meta Quest 3 VR headset.
Ryan Payton, founder and studio head of Camouflaj, emphasized in one open letterthat the new game is intended to offer the “ultimate VR experience” and was developed specifically for the capabilities and technology of Meta Quest 3.
Payton adds that his team's years of experience in VR game development were used to create a game that… feels authentic to the Arkham universe
and at the same time offers the most immersive gaming experience VR can offer
.

In the VR game Arkham Shadow, Batman faces a new enemy
However, Warner Bros' decision to release the game exclusively for VR quickly triggered a wave of criticism: Many long-time fans of the series still want a classic Arkham game on PC or console:
I let out the biggest sigh when I saw it was for VR. // Spider-man222
A VR game… are you kidding me, that sucks, man! // holey34455
Quest 3 exclusive, seemingly without any involvement from Rocksteady, continuation of a franchise that should have ended with Knight and was executed with Suicide Squad… Warner Brothers are the stupidest of them all. // yourmomyourmomyourmomyourmo
It remains to be seen whether Arkham Shadow will at least be one of the better VR titles. The teasers and artwork released so far suggest that the villain rat catcher
will play a central role in the new game.
That could at least arouse interest in terms of content. As far as the timeline is concerned, the game is said to be set between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum.
The game's full reveal is scheduled for Summer Game Fest 2024, which will take place on June 7, 2024.
