The Mystery in the Last Room of Aberrus (Spoilers!)

The Zaralek Cave System in WoW patch 10.1 was once the hidden realm of Neltharion.In a secret laboratory called Aberrus, the Earth Warden researched all sorts of new life forms, even breaking down the boundaries between the elements and the cosmic domain of the Void.The shadowflame that slumbers in the fiery heart of Aberrus holds unimaginable power.The proto-dragon incarnations search Zaralek for the source of the shadowflame.Little did they expect, however, that Sarkareth and his rebellious Dracthyr would also seek Neltharion’s legacy.

The Grand Finale of “Embers of Neltharion”

A few days ago we risked a first look into the dark corridors and rooms of Aberrus.Along the way, we learned more about Scale Commander Sarkareth’s goals and motives.He and his dracthyr are true rebels who don’t want to join either the mortals or the proto-dragon incarnations.On the test server for WoW (buy now ) Patch 10.1, players have already gathered a lot of information about the next story chapter.Thanks to the Adventure Guide, we know that in the grand finale of Embers of Neltharion, Sarkareth will reach the heart of Aberrus and unleash the Shadowflame.

So far there have only been a few screenshots from Aberrus on the web.The WoWHead data miners have only been able to partially explore the rooms of the new raid, because the room with the last boss fight of the raid will not be officially accessible until the release of the raid.Nevertheless, players managed to enter another part of Aberrus and give us a glimpse of different areas of the laboratory.This week there are new exciting pictures from the raid, which will open its doors in May 2023.Just look at the pictures in the gallery below.

The secret laboratory of Neltharion is reminiscent of the dark Blackwing Lair, where Nefarian, the son of Deathwing, was up to mischief for a long time.However, the picture changes as we advance into the heart of Aberrus.Instead of fire and lava, the shadows of the void spread throughout the corridors.The colors red and orange are replaced by blue and violet.In the gallery below you can see the long corridor and the last chamber of Aberrus.On the There is also a video on the official website of WoWHeadin which a player takes a spin through the rooms of Aberrus.

The path to the Heart of Aberrus opens after defeating the Echo of Neltharion.In the last corridor there is a portal that takes us directly to the room where scale commander Sarkareth awaits us as the final boss of Aberrus.Said chamber is located between realities and leads straight into the void.The room bears some resemblance to the Eye of Eternity, sanctuary of the blue dragonflight.A large group of voidwalkers and two powerful void demons guard the heart of Aberrus.

The wall decorations and decorations that we find in the last part of Aberrus are particularly exciting.The pedestal in front of the entrance to the Void is decorated with a relief depicting Neltharion as ruler of the world.The Earth Warden in the picture is as tall as a Titan and sits like a crown on the head of Azeroth.The artists who sculpted the fresco even considered detailing the outlines of Kalimdor and the Dragon Isles.Alien runes adorn the pillar and walls of the room.These signs are from the Black Empire era.

Stained glass window in the last room in Aberrus.Source: WoWHeadAnd now we come to a particularly interesting picture.A little off the platform with the shadow well we see a decorative glass window that immediately reminds us of the stained windows of Ulduar.The window is decorated with an abstract image of a strange being with piercing, predatory eyes and razor-sharp fangs.

The Last Mystery of Aberrus

Who or what is this creature?Was there an old god immortalized on the glass window?The being resembles the image of Y’Shaarj, the most powerful Old God who ruled over the Black Empire in Azeroth eons ago.Look at the comparison picture.Both creatures have curved horns and long claws and teeth.

WoW: The great mystery in the last room in Aberrus – could it be Y’Shaarj?Source: BlizzardWell, the Aberrus creature doesn’t have as many eyes as Y’Shaarj.However, the stained glass window could be a stylized image of Y’Shaarj.In the Klaxxi lair in Pandaria there is a similar effigy of an Old God (believed to be Y’Shaarj), with two large eyes and one small.However, judging by the outlines, the creature in the window picture could also be Neltharion himself, who had himself portrayed in the style of an Old God.

Or does the picture show an unknown Old God?We reported on this a few weeks ago.The Fifth Old God fan theory is based on notes by The Old Gods and the Order of Azeroth, which can be found in Dalaran (Legion).The book speaks of five Old Gods.But four are known to us by name: Y’Shaarj, N’Zoth, C’Thun and Yogg-Saron.With WoW Patch 10.0.7 comes the commented version of The Old Gods and the Order of Azeroth (Annotated) as a reboot into the game.In this book, Neltharion comments on the author’s texts with pointed remarks.However, Neltharion leaves the original author’s enumeration as is.Some lore fans are therefore convinced that there is a fifth Old God out there.And then there’s still…
