This includes the release date and when the patches stop.

2 year guarantee: Xiaomi generally guarantees you two years of tech support. This means regular patches, new operating system updates and regular security patches.

EOL: This means end-of-life, i.e. the end of the service. As you can see, many devices will receive updates for longer than the promised two years.

That's why security updates are important

A smartphone initially continues to function even without security updates. Similar to food, it doesn't always mean immediate spoilage – but then you do put yourself at greater risk.

The risk of viruses or malware increases with old devices because the security gaps are no longer patched and are eventually known to the Internet.
