Even though Pokémon already offers a lot of events, for many players, this is not enough. So, like Luke4ever, they launch into Nuzlocke

A need for nostalgia

More than 20 years after the release of the first Pokémon games, the license is still just as popular. The last episode released on Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Scarlet / Violet had a small success. On JV, we gave him a score of 16/20. Despite the fact that the game was released two years ago, it continues to bring players together with the DLC offered in December, but especially thanks to the events. Among them, we find raids and mass epidemics, which allow, for a very limited time, to encounter very rare or even new Pokémon. However, these events do not interest everyone. Many fans regularly return to old generation titles on Game Boy, DS or 3DS, emulated on PC, to enjoy a little nostalgia, or to take on a challenge.

An impossible challenge?

Among the most famous challenges, we find the Randomizer, which allows Pokémon to appear randomly. To put it simply, nothing prevents a legendary creature from ending up on route 2 and vice versa, a basic can become a boss. The other very popular game mode is called Nuzlocke and consists of following very strict rules to the letter when playing. For example, there is the obligation to release a KO Pokémon, or where players are only allowed to catch the first Pokémon in each zone, in order to limit the teams they can join. The creator Luke4ever also paid the price and failed at the last moment. Well, that's what he thought.

It's on Emeraude that the streamer Luke4ever challenged himself to finish the Run and Bun challenge in Nuzlocke. The latter, for example, introduces later Pokémon to the software, coming for example from Pokémon Sword/Shield, but above all from several very difficult, but obligatory, battles. As a result, those who attempt Run and Bun are often blocked by the difficulty and sometimes forced to reset everything upon the death of certain Pokémon they absolutely wanted. This is how Luke 4 ever has accumulated almost 11,130 attempts to reach the end of the game. The trick was using a spreadsheet that listed all the Pokémon in the game. If they weren't immediately interesting, he started again. The best part of all this is that he technically never managed to have all the cards he wanted, which did not prevent him from defeating this Pokémon Emerald.
