An incredible arrival at Baldur's Gate

Before arriving at Baldur's Gate, Act III of BG3 takes us to the outskirts of the city. To reach the city, you must first go through the Pont de la Vouivre which has a brothel called the Caress of Sharess. This is where we find a quest which asks you to protect one of the courtesans called Naoise Nallinto from one of her clients who unfortunately ends up transforming into a mind flayer. Once saved, the latter offers to give you a buff by summarizing in one word what you want most. This applies as much to you as to your companions and this is what makes this sequence a unique moment.

A touching sequence of simplicity

If the player has the choice between different terms which can give him different bonuses, it is obviously the responses of the companions which are the most touching and which sum up well their state of mind at this moment of the game. For example, Wyll expresses his desire to be free from the contract he signed with Archdevil Zariel. But clearly, according to many Reddit users, the most touching responses are those of Astarion and Karlach, by far.

For the first, he replies that he wants to be “safe” and no longer wanted by the vampire lord Cazador who seeks to recover it to perform a ritual. It must be said that the latter used him for years and tortured him relentlessly, completely breaking him mentally. In the case of Karlach, the barbarian replies that she just wishes she was alive, which isn't really the case because of her mechanical heart which threatens to explode at any moment unless a real lasting solution is found. Thus, it is through the simplicity of these responses, yet full of meaning, that this sequence ended up impacting so many players.
