A request from a gunsmith
Venturing into the first part of the Gongaga region, you come across a small house in the middle of nature. This is the home of Izo, a craftsman. Upon entering, he almost jumps on you, showing his passion for gunsmithing and the mechanics of Barret's arm.

Izo dreams of creating what he calls the ultimate weapon, and asks you to collect the materials needed to make it. In possession of the key to the shed, head south to find the cabin a little further on.
Location of the vein
Open the door and you will find the Draconite Vein Map at the back of the room. We will show you directly in pictures the final location but we will still take the time to describe the process of the “treasure hunt”.
From the cabin, go northwest until you come across some torches and some extended fabric. Facing them, follow the path on the left until you reach a stone sculpture with a round base. Kill the Mimetichymæra and the Romamphibian if necessary.

Go to the left of the sculpture then immediately right after passing it to reach another sculpture. Facing this new sculpture, go to the left and continue until you come across a large tree.
There, you are very close to the draconite deposits. Unfortunately, a group of Pennasaxes comes upon you. These birds are vulnerable to wind and are easily weakened by this element.
If one of your team members has the Wind materia coupled with the Area of Effect materia, you will make all the Pennasaxes vulnerable quite easily. Wind chains or pulses also work very well, as does attacking them during Ion Accumulation.
Extraction of draconite
Once the fight is over, you can finally quietly harvest the blue ore. Eight pieces are requested.
- You will find two pieces near the rope located next to it.
- Climb the rope and, as soon as you are at the top, jump down to the right to recover two new pieces of draconite.
- Go back up and take the small passage to the north, you will find a piece slightly elevated.
- Go back down and, facing two paths, take the one on the left to come across two more pieces of draconite.
- Return, take the remaining path and collect one last piece of draconite.
Teleport to Izo's Workshop and give him your harvest. In the process, he built in Barret the Fafnir weapon that he offers you free of charge. The meeting with this curious character was therefore fruitful.
The quest ends and you also leave with 800 Exp, 10 Team Exp and an affinity increase with Barret.
