The Fallout series, originally expected for April 12, finally offers its episodes tomorrow at 4 a.m. in France on Amazon Prime Video. If it already arouses a certain enthusiasm among fans of science fiction and/or the post-apocalyptic game license, the press is clear: it's great.

What is the Fallout series about?

Fallout takes place in 2296, more than 219 years later the Great Thermonuclear War of 2077 which cost the lives of the vast majority of humanity. Despite that, some American citizens survived, hidden in gigantic fallout shelters built by the company Vault-Tec throughout the United States. Lucy MacLean resides in one of its shelters, which have become veritable underground societies, well protected from radioactive fallout from outside.

While she spent her entire life in Vault 33 located in Los Angeles, she will be forced to go to the surface, in order to save his father, Hank. Struggling to get used to the climatic conditions and the dangers of this new environment, his path crosses paths with Maximus, a young soldier of the Brotherhood of Steel, as well as The Ghoul, a bounty hunter deformed by radiation. Our three friends will cooperate as their paths all converge towards an artifact, apparently capable of changing power dynamics of all the devastated lands.

What does the press think?

After more than 4 years of development, to say that the series was anticipated would be an understatement. And the first returns are rave: it’s an (atomic) bomb. Between critically acclaimed actors and subtle but well-felt references, the series is very widely validated. Already receiving a score of 91/100 on Rotten Tomatoes, the show is placed above the sci-fi series The 3-Body Problem from Netflixwhich peaks at 80/100.

An integral part of communication, the series is indeed part of the canon of the world of video games, to the delight of fans. The scenario presents different temporalities without losing the viewer, resulting in a pleasant story to follow in impressive settings, so reminiscent of the games. If a few inconsistencies with the basic material and a small lack of action can cast some shadows on the board, the bet still seems to have succeeded for Amazonwhich also seems to be thinking about renewing a second season for the Fallout series.
