The developer of PlateUp! talks about the benefits of integrating Xbox Game Pass | Xbox

While the viability of Xbox Game Pass is regularly called into question, its advantages are also very often praised by studios who decide to bet on the service. It's happening is one of them, since PlateUp! will be launched this Friday directly in Game Pass, and Alastair Janse van Rensburg and Simon Byron, developer and publishing manager respectively, are visibly delighted to integrate the catalog.

Releasing the game in Game Pass was an “easy” choice

, they were notably asked if it had been easy to make the decision to release the console version of PlateUp! in Xbox Game Pass, and how the collaboration with Microsoft went.

Alastair then explains that it was undoubtedly an easy choice, since the service allows the game to be discovered by a very large number of players:

It’s definitely an easy choice. For my first game, PlateUp! was a huge success, and I want to introduce it to as many players as possible. The Game Pass is an obvious way to allow as many people as possible to discover the game. The welcome given to PlateUp! on PC was amazing and I hope console gamers enjoy it as much as PC gamers do.

He then specifies that the port of the game to Xbox went very well, and that although he will probably do things a little differently for his next game, he did not have any major problems to deal with:

Porting the game to Xbox went smoothly overall. For my next game I'd probably do things differently, but luckily there weren't any big problems!

Microsoft supported teams during development

Simon Byron explains for his part that he has been working with the team dedicated to Xbox Game Pass since its launch, and that he has therefore already been able to see for himself the advantages of having a game in the catalog. For him too, the service was a natural solution to make the game accessible to as many people as possible:

I've been working with the Game Pass team since its launch, so I've seen first-hand the benefits of having a game in the service. Even before PlateUp! launched, we saw that we had a very engaged community, playing the game for extraordinary periods during pre-launch playtests. We really want the game to be accessible to as many people as possible, so Game Pass seemed like a natural fit for us – and luckily, Microsoft agreed.

Regarding Microsoft's enthusiasm for the project, he then indicates that the firm supported the teams during development:

They've been incredibly supportive during development and I can't wait to see what players do with it at launch.

The teams are therefore delighted to be able to integrate Xbox Game Pass for the launch of the console version of the game, and it is excellent news to know that many studios are in favor of Microsoft's service.

Remember that PlateUp! will be available this Friday, February 15 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, as well as on Xbox Series X|S and PS5. It's a management game playable alone or with four players that mixes Overcooked and roguelite, and as such should offer a refreshing experience that we can't wait to discover.
