The code name of the next Mario has been found – RUMOR

We all suspect that. Than a new game Super Marioin the main branch of Mario 3D therefore, either in development, that doesn't surprise anyone. But what is interesting is rather how could we find such information?. Be careful, this is all rumor and will only interest people who like code names and everything that goes with them. Here, It's not so much the rumor of a Mario game that interests us, but the code name system. In any case, keep your tweezers on, as usual!

A Mario game in development, another that no longer provides news

A leaker known as Midori, which has already revealed elements mainly concerning SEGA And Atlus, recently claimed that a new game was in development at Nintendo, and that he had the code name “SPRed”. If you're wondering what this has to do with our favorite mustachioed guy, it's simple: all the latest games Mario had in their code name the term “Red.”

As the account states Nintendo on Twitter/X, here is the list of games Mario whose code name is partly composed of “Red” :

  • RedPepper – Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
  • BigRed – New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
  • RedPro – New Super Mario Bros. u (Switch)
  • RedDash – New Super Luigi U (Switch)
  • RedCarpet – Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)
  • Red Bull – Super Mario Run (Mobile)
  • Red Star – Super Mario Odyssey (Switch)
  • RedPro-S – New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (Switch)
  • RedCarpet-S – Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
  • SecRed – Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Switch)
  • SPRed – Game under development (Switch? Switch 2?)

We strongly suspect it, SPRed must without a shadow of a doubt refer to the next major title Super Mario, which will potentially be released on the next console Nintendo, the announcement of which is planned before April 1, 2025. However, we should not expect a rapid announcement (e.g. Nintendo Direct from June 2024)since the games Nintendo are often announced in the 6 months preceding their release.

Another code name, also listed on the site cited above, refers to a game Mario. It is “Silver Star”, but this one seems to date from before New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. If the game concerned by this name has never been talked about, it could apparently be a prequel to Super Mario Odysseysince like the latter it is composed of a color and the term “Star”. However, you may have noticed, no trace of the keyword “Red” In this one. So what could it possibly be?

Code names are commonplace

If you are interested, the site The Cutting Room Floor brings together a very large number of video game code names, all platforms combined. For example, it is possible to discover the code name of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildto know uking / U-King. Interestingly enough, a code-named game “U-King-O” seems to be in development, therefore very logically reminiscent of a new version of BOTW on a new machine, like RedPro-S which was a version Switch of a game Mario (visible in the list above in the article).
