The best games: Surprise at the German Computer Game Award

The German Computer Game Prize has been awarded since 2009. Every year the location of the event changes between Munich and Berlin. In 2024, the award ceremony took place on April 18th in Munich. A total of 15 prizes were awarded. One of the clearers is among others Baldur's Gate 3, but above all the best German game should surprise. The Special Jury Prize was also awarded and this year went to “Gaming without limits“. This initiative advocates for greater accessibility, inclusion and diversity in the gaming industry.

The winners of the German Computer Game Prize 2024 – these are the winners

Overall there is 15 categories at the German Computer Game Awardwhereby, depending on the category, not only the winners win a prize, but the other nominees also receive money:

• Young Talent Award Best Debut: The winner (60,000 euros) is Ad infinitum from publisher Nacon and developer Hekate. The other nominees (Fall of Porcupine and Lose CTRL) received 25,000 euros each.
• Young Talent Award Best Prototype: The winner (50,000 euros) is Misgiven from the studio Symmetry Break Studio. The other nominees (Bloodletter, EcoGnomix, Footgun: Underground and Replicore) each received 25,000 euros.
• Best Innovation and Technology: The winner (40,000 euros) is Marble Maze from the Fox-Assembly studio.
• Best Serious Game: The winner (40,000 euros) is Friedrich Ebert – The Path to Democracy from the publisher Stiftung Reichspresident-Friedrich-Ebert-Gedenkstätte and the developer Playing History.
• Best Family Game: The winner (40,000 euros) is Spells & Secrets from publisher Rokaplay and developer Alchemist Interactive.
• Best Audio Design: The winner (40,000 euros) is Ad Infinitum from publisher Nacon and developer Hekate.
• Best Game Design: The winner (40,000 euros) is Lose CTRL from the studio Play From Your Heart.
• Best Graphic Design: The winner (40,000 euros) is The Bear – A Story from the World of Gra from Studio Mucks! Games.
• Best Mobile Game: The winner (40,000 euros) is Cat Rescue Story from the studio Tivola Games.
• Best story: The winner (40,000 euros) is Ad Infinitum from publisher Nacon and developer Hekate.
• Best International Game: The winner (no prize money) is Baldur's Gate 3 from Larian Studios

The survival horror game Ad Infinitum was able to win in three categories. However, the award for Studio of the Year went to Nuremberg company Pixel Maniacs (50,000 euros). The developer's latest game is the racing game Can't drive this, in which one player first builds the track and a second player drives the race at the same time.

The jury's special prize in 2024 went to the Gaming without Borders initiative (10,000 euros). At the German Computer Game Prize 2023 Incidentally, it was the #FemDevsMeetup initiative that received the prize. He was named Player of the Year 2024 Twitch streamer Maurice Weber excellent. This is the best German game of 2024

Rockfish Games has every reason to be happy this year. The studio has the space game Everspace 2, which was first published in 2021 Prize for the best German game 2024 cleared away. This prize was endowed with the highest amount of 100,000 euros. The other two nominations don't go away completely empty-handed either, but each receive 30,000 euros.
