Test: Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro

Housing in titanium alloy, sapphire glass, EKG and maps to 17,000 golf courses for SEK 3,199. With the Watch Fit 5 Pro, Huawei wants to prove that a complete training watch does not have to cost as much as an Apple Watch and succeeds surprisingly well.

The Apple Watch Series 11 costs upwards of SEK 6,000 and Garmin lands at the same level for its sports watches. With the Watch Fit 5 Pro, Huawei wants to challenge its competitors. For SEK 3,199 you get a smart watch with a titanium alloy case, sapphire glass, EKG, maps of 17,000 golf courses and a battery life of just over a week, all in a 53-gram package. I’ve been wearing the Watch Fit 5 Pro 24/7 for two weeks: in the woods, while chopping wood, in the office, and in bed. This is one of the most interesting smartwatches of 2026.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro
+ Premium materials in titanium and sapphire glass.
+ Battery life of 6–8 days.
+ Sharp golf mode with 17,000+ vector maps without extra subscription.
+ Bright 3,000 nits display visible in sunlight.
+ Curve Pay for NFC payments in Sweden.

– Huawei Health requires a separate account in addition to Apple ID or Google.

– NFC payment is similar for Samsung activated via a separate app (Curve Pay).

– The warning about soap and shampoo feels old-fashioned on a watch that can withstand 40 meters of diving.

Price: SEK 3,199 (SEK 2,699 with launch discount until 14 June 2026).

Who should buy the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro?

Watch Fit 5 Pro is not a Garmin Fenix for the ultra runner and not an Apple Watch for those who live in the Apple ecosystem. But for everyone in between, it’s one of the most complete smartwatches on the market right now. For SEK 3,199, or SEK 2,699 with the launch discount until June 14, 2026, you get smart functions, impressive battery life and a training library that goes a long way for most hobby athletes.

If you are locked into the iPhone and want the smoothest integration, the Apple Watch is still hard to beat. If you train at an elite level and want the market’s best running analysis, you can look at Garmin, but at twice the price. For everyone else, this is one of spring’s easiest buying tips.

This is how we test

We wear the watch everyday for a couple of weeks to feel how it performs in the real world: at work, during training sessions, in sleep and out in the field. We use the watch in the situations it is actually built for, and compare measurement values against the manufacturer’s data and previous watches we have tested.

In the box and first impressions

Huawei ships the Watch Fit 5 Pro in a compact and well-packaged box that looks more like a gift box than a tech box. In the package is the watch, a magnetic charging puck and a brief manual. The charger is surprisingly well built and weighs 50 grams, almost as much as the watch itself.

With the strap, the watch comes in at 53 grams on my kitchen scale, compared to Huawei’s claimed 30.4 grams without the strap. Despite the solid case in titanium and sapphire glass, it’s a perfectly fine weight on the wrist, and even after a full night’s sleep with the watch on, it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. However, a sharp warning is stuck on the glass when you open the box: avoid exposing the watch to hot showers, steam saunas and anything that involves shower gel, shampoo or soapy water. The solution if the accident is at hand, to rinse the watch in clean water for 30 minutes, you have to find out yourself via the specification on the web. A bit odd for a watch that can otherwise withstand freediving to a depth of 40 meters.

Design and build quality

The design is the biggest change from its predecessor. The case is made of a titanium alloy, the chassis is made of aircraft grade aluminum and the glass over the screen is 2.5D sapphire. It is a triple protection you often see in a much more expensive watch, and in practice the watch feels ready to challenge the Apple Watch Series 11.

The screen is 1.92 inches with a resolution of 480 × 408 pixels. What really stands out is the peak brightness of 3,000 nits, the same level as an iPhone 17 or Samsung S26. In my test, the watch can be read without any problems even in full sunlight. The color choices in Sweden are black, white and orange, my test watch is black, the safe choice if you only have one watch for everything.

Software and ecosystem

The Watch Fit 5 Pro runs HarmonyOS 6.1 and connects via the Huawei Health app, which is available for both iOS and Android. On the iPhone, pairing was instant, and upon initial setup, Pro buyers get three months of free Huawei Health+.

The big news on the iOS side is that the daily lost connection notification, a classic annoyance with third-party clocks, disappeared after the update to iOS 26.5. The EU’s Digital Markets Act has forced Apple to open up previously exclusive features to third-party manufacturers, and the result is smoother pairing and interactive notifications. It’s still not quite on par with a real Apple Watch, but definitely fairer now.

On Android, the full palette of features is opened, including the Huawei Research app and more third-party apps via AppGallery. The fact that Huawei Health requires a separate account in addition to Apple ID or Google is not a deal-breaker, but can feel cumbersome if you already use other apps for an overview of your health.

Playful panda dial with Mini Workout

Sports, training and health

The training functions are the heart of the watch. On the bike ride, you get real-time data such as virtual power and cadence without a separate bike computer, not at pedal meter level, but more than enough for those who do not train at an elite level. If you have a good mount on the bike, you can use your phone as a bike computer. The golf mode is where the Pro model really stands out: vector maps of 17,000+ courses, distance measurement, automatically rotated green view and an 18-hole scorecard on the wrist, without the subscriptions or price difference that Apple Watch and Garmin equivalents require.

The Mini Workout mode with its animated panda is a quirky bird that reminds you to move when you’ve been sitting still for too long. Gimmicky on paper, but I actually took more short breaks during the test period.

On the health side, the TruSense system provides ECG, pulse wave-based atrial fibrillation detection (CE certified in Europe), arterial stiffness measurement and a skin temperature sensor. The sleep measurement is detailed with separate phases, and a new function flags possible breathing pauses during the night. The measurement of emotional well-being is mostly a curiosity, the stress levels are the only thing I actually act on.

Battery and charging

This is where Huawei really challenges the competition. Apple Watch Series 11 lands in about two days in normal use, Huawei promises up to 10 days in light and 7 days in typical use. My own measurements, with the watch on 24/7, sleep measurement on and 3-4 training sessions a week, two of which with GPS, land in about 6 days. If I reduce the measurements, I creep up to 8.

Charging is wireless and magnetic, and one hour is enough for full capacity. In practice, I charge while showering and never have to think about it. For trail runners, 25 hours of battery with continuous GPS is clearly approved, not Garmin Fenix level, but more than enough for marathons and ultra races.

The competition

Watch Fit 5 Pro doesn’t really have a direct competitor in terms of price, quality and functions. The Apple Watch Series 11 is better if you live in the Apple ecosystem and don’t care about battery life. The Samsung Galaxy Watch7 is close in price but has the same short battery life as Apple. Garmin is still king for serious athletes, but often at twice the price. Huawei’s golf mode is also a surprise in the class, without expensive extra costs.

Final words

The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro does very few things poorly and surprisingly many things really well for the money. If you want an all-round training watch with a premium feel, long battery life and sharp sports modes without paying a flagship price, this is one of the easiest buying tips this spring.
