Tekken 8: Lidia Sobieska and other new content introduced

Bandai Namco used EVO Japan 2024 to provide a preview of the upcoming content for Tekken 8 and another fighter is there.

This weekend saw the Evolution Championship Series: Japan 2024 (EVO Japan 2024), a major fighting game tournament in Tokyo. What better time to release information about the upcoming content for Tekken 8. Bandai Namco also thought so and pleased us with a kind of roadmap and a new trailer for Season 1.

And it has a lot to offer. After Eddy Gordo, the game's next DLC fighter, Lidia Sobieska, has now been introduced. Fans of the series know Lidia from Tekken 7, where she premiered as DLC in Season 4 PAss. Famously, Lidia is the Prime Minister of Poland and entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament after Heihachi Mishima refused to withdraw the Tekken Force from Poland. It will be interesting to see how Lidia is integrated into the new story. Another fighter will follow each fall and winter.

You can also expect a new chapter of the main story of Tekken 8, which will be released for free in autumn 2024. The new trailer also offers a small preview of this, which gives the impression that Eddy Gordo will take on Nina Williams. How exactly the new chapter will fit into the main story remains to be seen.

There is also a balance update on the planning list, which is scheduled to be released this spring. With Seaside Resort there is also a new stage coming, in summer. Seaside Resort comes with different times of the day along with fireworks at night. More or less parallel to this, a photo mode will also come into play, which will allow you to pause ongoing battles to take photos and use various effects. There are still no dates for further innovations such as Online Practice and Ghost vs. Ghost.

This will certainly please the not very few Tekken fans. The title has now sold well over two million copies and is one of the best fighting games ever, or as colleague Sascha says in his test of Tekken 8: “I like Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 without question, but against Tekken 8 they have no chance! Harada-san and his crew are throwing out an absolute piece of fighting game in every respect.”
