Tails 6.2 Now Available for Release

Formed release of a specialized distribution Tails 6.2 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), based on the Debian 12 package base, shipped with the GNOME 43 desktop and designed for anonymous access to the network. Anonymous access to Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections other than traffic through the Tor network are blocked by the packet filter by default. Encryption is used to store user data in the save user data mode between runs. Prepared for loading iso imagecapable of working in Live mode, 1 GB in size.

  • Updated versions Tor Browser 13.0.13 (based on Firefox 115.10), Tor 0.4.8.11 and Thunderbird 115.20.
  • The Welcome Screen has the ability to enable localization for 21 additional languages, including Ukrainian, Armenian, Kazakh, Latvian and Estonian (Russian was previously available).
  • The localization section in the Welcome Screen has been renamed to “Language and Formats”.
  • In the Tails Upgrader interface, the option to delay the installation of updates (Make Upgrade later) is enabled by default.
  • The range of errors recognized when there are problems reading or writing to USB drives has been expanded.
  • Problems with Wi-Fi reliability have been resolved.
  • SysRq key processing is disabled.
  • To enhance protection against the Specter v4 vulnerability, the “spec_store_bypass_disable=on” parameter is enabled by default.
