There are two playable characters waiting for us in “Assassin's Creed Shadows”: Naoe and Yasuke. In an interview, Associate Director Simon Lemay-Comtois answered the question of how much we have the opportunity to decide for ourselves which of the two heroes we want to play.
Yesterday's “Ubisoft Forward” Edition Ubisoft used, among other things, to show us the stealth action adventure “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” to present in detail.
As part of the presentation The developers provided us with more than 13 minutes of commented gameplay and various new details about the gameplay. In an interview that Gamesradar published after the event, the playable characters are discussed in more detail.
As is well known, “Assassin's Creed Shadows” offers us two playable main characters, the kunoichi Naoe Fujibayashi and the samurai Yasuke. But to what extent will we be able to decide for ourselves which of the two heroes we want to play? Associate Director Simon Lemay-Comtois answered this question in an interview with Games radar.
The choice is largely yours
As the Associate Director confirmed, there are various missions in “Assassin's Creed Shadows” in which you have to take on the role of Naoe or Yasuke for story-related reasons. Aside from these story missions, however, it is up to you whether you prioritize one of the two characters or simply play both alternately.
“If you want to play just one character, you can do that for most of the game,” Lemay-Comtois told GamesRadar. “So we don't force anyone to switch back and forth. There are definitely situations that are better to play with Naoe. For example, when there's a bunch of bandits in a cave that's very, very dark.”
The Associate Director continued: “Of course you can go with Yasuke. But with Naoe it goes faster because it's in the dark. So there are some clues like that. But other than story missions that are specifically tailored to one or the other, at the moment we don't dictate who has to be played. The choice is up to the players.”
Recently there has also been criticism
While the largely free choice of the main character is welcomed by the fans, another decision by the developers recently caused for criticismWe are talking about the mini battle passes called projects.
Here we are dealing with a new type of monetization, which relies, among other things, on paid battle passes.
These, in turn, each comprise 20 levels with cosmetic extras waiting to be unlocked. According to reliable insider Tom Henderson, the first mini-battle passes are called “The Hidden Network,” “The Last Ronin,” and “In The Shadows,” and will be available via the social hub of “Assassin’s Creed Infinity” offered.
“Assassin's Creed Shadows” will be released on November 15, 2024 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
