Switch joins PlayStation and Xbox in discontinuing production

PlayStation and Xbox have shown the way, now Nintendo is also following suit with the Switch: While it was previously possible to share screenshots from your Nintendo Switch directly on X (formerly Twitter), this function will soon be significantly restricted. A pinprick not only for numerous players, but also for Elon Musk.

Nintendo Switch: Feature disappears from the console

Easily upload a special moment, an achievement or simply a nice screenshot from the Switch to X (formerly Twitter) – a practical feature that enables collaboration between Nintendo and the microblogging service that Elon Musk acquired for 44 billion US dollars and has been heavily remodeled since then.

Now another change is becoming known, which has at most indirectly to do with Musk's plans: Nintendo announces on the official blog that players from June 10, 2024 lose the ability to upload their content to X quickly and easily. Facebook could also be affected at a later date (source: Nintendo).

In response, X's official gaming account assures that it is committed to “improving and supporting game-related features.” The partnership with Nintendo will remain in place and we will work together to “ensure a smooth transition for all users”. X/Twitter also wants to continue working to offer “new and exciting experiences” in the future.

What exactly this might mean has not yet been revealed. However, this does not mean that you no longer have the option to publish your content. If you still want to share your screenshots, you can Simply download it to your smartphone in the future and then share manually on the platform. Nintendo explains in a brief overview how to link your accounts.

The Nintendo Switch offers completely different features, as we show you in this video:
