Does anyone remember Mario Kart World? Nintendo doesn’t do it.

The Switch 2 is officially one year old. At the same time, Mario Kart World (for the GIGA test) also celebrated its birthday. Nevertheless, Nintendo still hasn’t given the flagship an expansion. There was also no mention of the 90 euro game during the recent Nintendo Direct.
Mario Kart World: Expensive and forgettable
Yes, that wasn’t a typo. The physical version of Mario Kart World actually costs 89.99 euros in the My Nintendo Store (watch on Nintendo). However, the game is usually cheaper at retailers like Amazon (see on Amazon). At the same time, the game was sold in a bundle with the console.
But it’s all the more incomprehensible that Nintendo ignores Mario Kart World so much. There are so many players who already have it on their console. The game has certainly received updates, but they haven’t brought any new routes or major changes.
An update in March added the Bob-Omb Throw mode, which had already been leaked. Many fans (including me) were hoping that the mode would just be part of a larger update, but that didn’t happen.
The anniversary together with the big Nintendo Direct would have been the next opportunity for a Mario Kart comeback. Once again fans were left disappointed.
What’s next for Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is criticized by many players for its empty open world and sluggish delivery routes. Personally, I had a lot of fun completing the cups. The Knockout Tour in particular is a real highlight.
Still, not for a second did I feel the need to venture out into the open world and collect any coins. The game needs real new routes and additional useful upgrades for the delivery routes. I’m sure Nintendo will release an update at some point, but it’s just taking too long.
