Surprise Release for Fallout 5: Expected Sooner with One Major Condition

Until now, Fallout 5 seemed like a very distant concept. But with the huge success of the Prime Video series, the future could be different, both for Bethesda and the fans.

In any case, this is what the generally well-informed Jez Corden puts forward in a recent podcast from The Xbox Two. According to him, Microsoft's gaming branch would like Fallout 5 to be released sooner than expected. But this could have consequences that are… apocalyptic, to say the least.

Xbox wants Fallout 5 released before the radiation falls again

Faced with the impressive success of the adaptation series on Prime Video, Bethesda wanted to keep a cool head. For the studio, the absolute priority remains The Elder Scrolls 6. There was therefore no question of rushing things and dispersing itself by developing Fallout 5 in parallel. In such a scenario, the release of the next game from the famous postapocalyptic license is not expected to arrive until the next decade. But Xbox, which owns Bethesda, doesn't seem to agree.

According to Jez Cordensociety is well aware » of the explosive demand for Fallout 5, or at the very least a new game. Given the radioactive enthusiasm around the franchise at the moment, sales could clearly be there. Bethesda, however, does not seem ready to let go of its next baby, The Elder Scrolls 6. In this case, there would only be one solution for Xbox: have the next Fallout game developed by another studio. Since Obsidian Entertainment is also under his supervision, to which we already owe the excellent and very popular New Vegas, such a choice would be rather relevant. Especially since this studio is currently working on Avowed, expected later this year. On paper, he could therefore then be available to work on a new game in a franchise that he already knows well.

A new game quickly made, well done?

If, however, Xbox intends to entrust Fallout 5 to a radically different studio, the rush could have a different effect than expected. Very recently with Fallout 4, fans had the bitter experience of this. The game released in 2015 received a “next-gen” patch on April 25 to ride the wave of the series’ success. But the end result was disappointing to say the least, in most cases adding more problems than it solved.

Certainly, the demand for a Fallout 5 is now more atomic than ever. Especially since we are going to see the Prime Video series again at least for a second season. The radioactive craze around the franchise should therefore be relaunched if it happens to be of equal quality to the first. The desire to release a new game before the fallout is therefore clearly attractive. But manufacturing a nuclear bomb requires time and a certain finesse, at the risk of a premature explosion. Time will tell when and where our next adventures in the Wasteland take place.
