Yesterday it was announced that Microsoft four studios are closing, which became part of the portfolio as a result of the acquisition of Bethesda. This is what happened to the Japanese developers at Tango Gameworks, responsible for the surprise hit “Hi-Fi Rush”Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Games.

The fourth studio affected is Arkane Austin, who got off to a disastrous start with “Redfall” last year. However, the developers seemed to want to work on the title and released several updates for “Redfall” at the end of 2023. As colleagues at IGN write, the employees of Arkane Austin seem to have been surprised by the closure of their studio.

Developers worked until recently on a little-noticed vampire game

As colleagues at IGN were apparently able to find out, the responsible developers at Arkane Austin had a roadmap for support for “Redfall”. This was even actively worked on before Microsoft made short work of not only the development of the vampire shooter, but also the entire studio.

Until recently, the studio was said to have been working on DLC and updates for “Redfall” in the hope that they could be released soon. The announcement of Arkane Austin's closure is said to have come as a shock to employees.

Also the hero pass, the part of the “Bite Back” edition of “Redfall” costs 110 euros was, according to the information from IGN, should still appear. According to new information, the Hero Pass was scheduled to be released on Halloween. Now the difference should be refunded to those who bought the “Bite Back” edition.

In an email to employees, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, explained the studios' recent closure as a “re-prioritization of titles and resources.” According to the email, the “Redfall” servers should remain online.
